Lil’ Owie’s and The Tooth Furry’s Finding Fall — Day 25
THE 25th OF REMEMBER DAY!
Good morning, friends!
The Tooth Furry and I were getting ready for another Finding Fall adventure when I pulled out a stack of postcards, some crayons and a bunch of stamps.
“What are we looking for today, Owie?” she asked.
“Someone we remember.”
I told her that today is the 25th of Remember, something I think is important enough to do on the 25th of every single month.
“Why the 25th?” she asked.
“Because everybody thinks about the people they love on December 25th. We send Christmas cards, buy presents, make phone calls, travel long distances and gather around tables just to be together. But Tooth Furry... not everyone we love today will get another December 25th. And neither are we promised one.”
She got very quiet.
That’s why we shouldn’t wait until Christmas to tell people we love them, miss them or remember them.
We get eleven other 25ths during the year, and I think we should use them.
So today is THE 25th OF REMEMBER DAY!
Grab your kids, grandkids or someone you love and think of someone you haven’t seen in a while. Maybe it’s a grandparent, an old friend, a cousin who lives far away, a neighbor you miss or simply someone whose name keeps popping into your heart.
Then do something wonderfully old-fashioned.
Send them something in the mail.
Make a card. Draw a picture. Write a note. Send a postcard. It doesn’t have to be fancy or long. You can simply write, “I thought about you today, and I wanted you to know.”
The Tooth Furry smiled. “So instead of waiting until Christmas to remember everybody, we remember them all year long?”
“Exactly.”
Because someday one of those ordinary little cards might become something somebody keeps tucked away in a drawer for a very long time.
And maybe that’s our Finding Fall lesson today.
Seasons change. Leaves fall. Time keeps moving whether we’re paying attention or not.
So remember the people you love while you still have time to tell them.
“Tooth Furry?”
“Yes, Owie?”
“Who are you sending yours to?”
She picked up a postcard and smiled.
“Someone I want to make sure knows I remember them.”
Come on, Tooth Furry...
Let’s Find Fall, find a stamp and make this 25th count.
And when October 25th comes around?
We’ll remember someone again.
