7 Things You Need to Do as a Mom Living in the Diaspora 🌍

1️⃣ Build a strong relationship with God.
You need His strength, wisdom, and direction for this journey.

2️⃣ Take care of your mental and physical health.
You cannot pour from an empty cup. Rest without feeling guilty.

3️⃣ Create a support system.
You were not designed to do motherhood alone. Find trustworthy friends and a supportive community.

4️⃣ Build more than one source of income.
Bills abroad do not respect anyone. Depending on only one paycheck can be risky.

5️⃣ Be intentional about your children.
Teach them your language, culture, values, and where they come from.

6️⃣ Stop comparing your journey with others.
Some people have more support than you do. Focus on your own progress.

7️⃣ Create time for yourself and your dreams.
You are more than a wife, mom, and employee. Your dreams still matter!

I DIDN’T QUIT MY JOB BECAUSE I HATED WORK—I QUIT BECAUSE I BUILT ANOTHER OPTION.

In 2022, I started my online business franchise while still working my 9–5.

I was a wife, a mother and an immigrant trying to keep everything together. I worked long hours, missed precious moments with my children and often felt like there was never enough time.

But quietly, behind the scenes, I was building something of my own.

I didn’t have everything figured out. I was nervous, inexperienced and sometimes discouraged. But I kept learning, showing up and trusting God with every step.

Then, in 2024, I went on maternity leave and was told by my boss, “We don’t pay for maternity leave.”

Imagine having a newborn baby, bills waiting and no paycheck coming from the job you had faithfully served.

For seven months, I didn’t receive a paycheck from my job—but my online business continued paying my bills. That was when I truly understood the importance of having another source of income.

This business has helped my family in so many ways. It supported me during maternity leave, gave me more time with my children, helped me build multiple streams of income and gave me the confidence to dream beyond my 9–5.

Then came another defining moment: my little boy became sick, and I was told that my job could no longer accommodate my situation.

That moment opened my eyes. No matter how dedicated I was, my job could never give me the freedom my family needed.

Thankfully, the online business I started in 2022 had grown into something real. It had replaced my job income and given me the confidence to finally submit my resignation.

On July 3, 2026, I officially became BOSS FREE! 🥹🎉

I didn’t build this overnight. It took four years of consistency, sacrifice, learning, personal growth and showing up even when I was afraid.

Today, I can work from home, care for my family, take my children to daycare by choice and build my income without asking anyone for permission.

I’m sharing my story because someone reading this may feel trapped in a job that no longer fits the life they want.

Please don’t quit your job without a plan—but don’t remain stuck without building one either.

Start small. Learn the skills. Use the time you have now to create the freedom you want later.
