Our Chief Advancement Officer has a gift for making people feel heard. He listens with his whole heart, asks thoughtful questions, and isn’t afraid to say “run it back” so he can really understand. That care shapes how we work together, how we serve our clients and how we build community.

Steven leads with kindness and empathy. He brings calm to tense moments, makes room for others, and reminds us that so much of what we do starts with building trust. And whether it’s karaoke, dancing, or a perfectly timed joke, “Scuba Steve” brings plenty of joy along the way.

In our Humans of Savage series, we spotlight the people who shape Savage’s culture and work. This month, meet Sandra Bernstein, Account Supervisor, Marketing, whose calm determination, sharp instincts and ability to keep teams moving make her a trusted force on any project.

Q: What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?

A: I’ve run the NYC Marathon despite never being a runner. The six-plus months of disciplined training taught me a lot about myself and made the journey as rewarding as the race itself. The energy of the crowds and the city made it an experience I’ll never forget.

Q: What’s your superpower on a project team?

A: Taking a muddy, undefined idea and turning it into a clear path forward. When a team gets stuck in a spiral, I cut through the noise, identify the core pain point, and bring structure to the challenge. I enjoy building alignment and creating an ex*****on plan everyone can get behind. I’m energized by progress and frustrated by inertia.

In just one year, Sandra Bernstein has made a tremendous impact on our Marketing team, bringing fresh thinking, strategic rigor, and an incredible ability to move mountains for our clients and her team.

AI is making work faster, more efficient and easier to scale.

But as it removes meetings, emails and everyday coordination, it may also be removing some of the moments where culture naturally takes shape.

Organizations can become more productive while becoming less connected.

That is why adopting AI cannot be treated as a technology decision alone. Leaders also need to consider how they will protect collaboration, reinforce alignment and create meaningful opportunities for people to learn and work together.

AI can optimize the work. Designing the culture around it is still a human responsibility.

Today, we are proud to celebrate our summer intern, Ava Rambeau, in honor of National Intern Day!

A rising senior at The University of Texas at Austin, Ava joined Savage this summer as our Brand, Marketing and Business Development Intern, ready to learn, contribute and make the most of every opportunity.

Throughout her college experience, she has balanced academics with work, athletics, campus organizations and community service. That drive, curiosity and willingness to jump in have been evident throughout her time with our team.

Internships are about gaining real-world experience, but they are also an opportunity for all of us to learn from a fresh perspective. We are grateful for the energy, thoughtfulness and enthusiasm Ava has brought to Savage this summer.
