Meet Charmaine, one of our clients who participated in our Investigative Program here in Kenya.

TRICARE? MEDICARE? VA? HOW DOES IT ALL WORK WHEN YOU LIVE ABROAD? 🇺🇸🇰🇪

Y'all, we're back with another U.S. veteran navigating healthcare here in Kenya!

But this time, the situation is a little different.

Our client is a 70% service connected disabled veteran, and we're helping him understand his healthcare options as he transitions into life in Kenya.

Today, we're sitting down at one of our hospital partners to review his prescriptions, discuss his healthcare needs, and navigate the hospital system.

But here's the important part.

Not every veteran has the same benefits!

Some may qualify for TRICARE Overseas.

Some may transition to TRICARE For Life when they become eligible for Medicare.

Others may qualify for the VA Foreign Medical Program for eligible service connected conditions.

Some may need additional local or international health insurance.

Our job isn't to assume which benefits you have.

From Dubai to Abu Dhabi: Expanding Healthcare Connections Beyond Borders

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank Agora for organizing such a spectacular healthcare delegation and conference in Dubai, along with our facility visits and walkthroughs in Abu Dhabi.

What an experience! The conversations, connections, and knowledge gained over these past several days have truly opened my eyes to even greater possibilities in medical tourism and international healthcare collaboration.

One of my biggest takeaways was the importance of strengthening healthcare solutions within Africa first, while building trusted international referral networks for specialized care that may not be readily available on the continent.

A special shoutout to Dr. Mohamed from Egypt, whose approach to prioritizing treatment within Africa before exploring international alternatives really resonated with me. This is something I strongly believe in as we continue positioning Kenya as a healthcare destination and building stronger connections across the continent.

For Traverze Culture, this delegation also created opportunities to explore potential MOUs with international healthcare facilities, particularly around specialized medical services, complex patient needs, and expanding healthcare solutions for our U.S. veterans living abroad.

We are not looking to simply send patients from one country to another. We are working toward building a network where patients can access the right care, receive proper guidance, and have continuity of support regardless of borders.

And sometimes, that means looking beyond Africa when specialized treatment is unavailable or inaccessible locally.

I met some incredible people doing meaningful work across healthcare, technology, patient navigation, and medical tourism. The knowledge shared and relationships established are exactly why these delegations matter.

Y'all, this trip has been an EXPERIENCE! 🇦🇪🇰🇪❤️

One of the biggest things I've learned here in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is that healthcare mobility is much more complex than simply traveling to another country for treatment.

Care coordination is a GLOBAL challenge.

Patients need options. They need access to appropriate specialists, trusted healthcare providers, advocacy, and support before, during, and AFTER treatment.

While I remain committed to strengthening healthcare access and medical tourism within Africa, I'm also exploring international relationships for specialized services that may not be accessible closer to home.

Africa first when appropriate. Global options when necessary.

WHY AM I EXPLORING HEALTHCARE BEYOND AFRICA? 🌍🏥

Today, I'm in Abu Dhabi, getting a closer look at the healthcare system, international patient services, and the experience surrounding medical tourism.

One thing this trip is reinforcing for me is that healthcare mobility is COMPLEX.

It's not simply about finding a hospital in another country.

It's about understanding the patient experience, access to specialists, care coordination, treatment options, costs, and what happens before, during, and AFTER care.

Now, y'all know I've been advocating for stronger medical tourism and healthcare access within Africa, particularly Kenya and East Africa.

And that hasn't changed.

But I'm also recognizing the importance of building relationships globally for patients who may require specialized services that are unavailable or difficult to access closer to home.

The goal isn't to send patients out of Africa unnecessarily.

The goal is to help them access appropriate care, wherever that care may be.

And that's why I'm here.

Learning. Investigating. Asking questions. Exploring opportunities.

Because the more I understand how these systems operate, the better positioned we are to build meaningful healthcare navigation and coordination pathways through Traverze Culture.
