UMKC School of Pharmacy Faculty and Past President/Member Receives 2026 Spark Prize

UMKC School of Pharmacy has announced that Heather Lyons-Burney, clinical associate professor and assistant director of experiential learning, is a recipient of the 2026 Spark Prize.

Lyons-Burney was one of six recipients selected by the Missouri Foundation for Health to receive $200,000 in unrestricted funding. The award recognizes her work in establishing a charitable primary care clinic in Branson and developing My Neighbor’s Charitable Pharmacy in Springfield.

Her efforts are helping expand access to essential health care services and prescription medications for underserved Missourians.

Congratulations to Heather on this well-deserved recognition and for her continued commitment to improving health care access in !

As you are aware, CMS recently released its long-awaited request for information (RFI) regarding Part D reasonable and relevant contract terms. CMS is seeking public comment, and we need all independent pharmacy owners, regardless of practice setting, to submit comments.
