⚡ As interest in renewable energy curing continues to grow, the focus is shifting from possibility to implementation.

This September, members of our team will contribute to that conversation at the European Symposium of Photopolymer Science (ESPS) in Vienna, Austria, sharing perspectives on both the science behind radiation-cured coatings and the realities of bringing renewable energy-curing technologies into industrial production.

Michel Rosso, Coating Scientist, will examine how cure kinetics and network architecture influence the long-term durability and outdoor weathering performance of radiation-cured coatings.

Sebastien Villeneuve, Transformation Manager, will explore the technical challenges involved in taking renewable energy-curing technologies from the laboratory to commercial coil coating lines.

Together, these presentations showcase the breadth of expertise behind the IONOMY™ ecosystem, spanning fundamental coating science through to real-world industrial implementation.

Currently leading a major transformation programme, Katharina is passionate about fostering stronger collaboration and shared ownership across functions. Meet Brian Serafy, our Columbus Metal Coatings Site Manager, leading the Columbus site in supporting the Metal Coatings business across North America. With a background in mechanical engineering and extensive manufacturing leadership experience, he is focused on delivering safe, efficient operations and high-performing coatings for our customers.

Brian joined AkzoNobel over three years ago to take on his first Site Manager position - a long-standing career goal. He believes success comes from building strong relationships, practicing servant leadership, and empowering teams to achieve their goals while continuously improving performance.

His current focus is on strengthening the future of the Columbus site through people development, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. As he puts it: "What excites me most is building the next generation of paint makers in Columbus, creating an even safer workplace, and continuing to strengthen our ability to supply high-performing coatings to the Coil and Packaging markets."

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, which is why he works safe every day.
