The NOMM-Drian collection by Kauer Guitars started as a series of guitars for our BGS booth at NAMM 2026. Now one of them, the Gripen, is on display at the Piet Mondriaan in Amersfoort (his birthplace!) as part of their exhibition: “The Mondrian Effect.”

Piet Mondriaan loved music. Jazz in particular inspired him while he painted. It feels right that a guitar ended up there, although we can’t help but wonder what Mondriaan himself would’ve thought of this. Joshua Flaig spent over four months on the painting process for the collection, in his words “His style seems deceptively simple, but in reality it’s not.”

The NOMM-Drian guitars are also part of the 2026 BGS enTour that is touring through the USA as we speak!

Today's guest is luthier and architect Simon Padalka (Padalka Guitars), a guitar maker with few peers.

In this conversation we talk about the dramatic events that unfolded at the end of the 2025 Boutique Guitar Showcase enTour season, when the Padalka guitar that sold on tour was caught in a truck fire in Phoenix, Arizona. Thought lost, then to everyone's surprise the guitar popped up again for sale a few weeks later, thickening an already unusual plot.

We talk about how to handle the tough situations that we inevitably encounter in business and life, the importance of keeping it cool when things get tough and how to make a Phoenix rise from the ashes of destruction.
