While many of us are off today enjoying the long weekend 🌅, let’s acknowledge the restaurant and hospitality workforce.

was established in 1894 as a federal holiday to celebrate the social and economic achievements of American workers. Not just a day off. A day for the people who work. 👷🧑‍🍳🛠️

Last week, I had a seat at the table. 🪑 I was invited to a roundtable with Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling, alongside restaurant and agriculture leaders across Nevada and the country. I didn’t just show up as a board member of the Nevada Restaurant Association. I showed up as a Salvadoran 🇸🇻 immigrant who came to Las Vegas at six years old, built a life here, and a decade ago built a PR and community outreach firm that now employs a team of 8.

I used that seat to speak for people who don’t have one: coworkers, friends, employees, extended family, and thousands of others in my Salvadoran and immigrant communities whose futures hang on a policy deadline most people will never think twice about.

Here’s why it matters, in numbers: 📊

🍳 51% of line cooks in Nevada are foreign-born, vs. 17% nationally.

🏨 Nevada has the highest share of foreign-born hospitality workers of any state, at 37% of our tourism and hospitality workforce.

🌎 1 in 3 restaurant owners in Nevada is foreign-born.

💵 The restaurant industry generates $23.3 billion in annual sales in Nevada and employs 231,000 people, making it the largest private employer in the state.

Some of my remarks included: ⬇️

“Secretary Sonderling, today we need your help to extend Salvadorans’ temporary status, but really, we need the Department of Labor to champion a pathway for all people with temporary status to be made permanent residents, and afford them the same opportunities that our families both had.”

Thank you 🙏 to the American Business Immigration Coalition and Nevada Restaurant Association for the invitation and for trusting me with a seat at that table. I don’t take it lightly.

Happy Labor Day ❤️ to the workers who built this industry, and to the ones still fighting for the chance to keep building it.

I forgot I was allowed to just… stop. 🫶🏽

Running a business, a household, and leading a professional network sometimes means rest is the first thing to go.

My team unapologetically taking a mental day, no explanation needed. My sister inviting me on a hike just to celebrate life and birthdays, no agenda attached. Life moves at such a fast pace, and somewhere along the way we convinced ourselves that rest has to be earned.

It doesn’t.

I found myself hiking Cathedral Trail, hands in the water, just breathing. My happy place has always been with Mother Nature 🌲- no notifications, no to-do list, just the sound of water and my own thoughts.

A mental day. A mental afternoon. Even just a mental hour. It’s not you falling behind, it’s you making sure you can keep showing up as the parent, the founder, the friend, the leader you want to be. We can’t pour into our work, our families, or our communities from an empty cup.

So take the time this weekend to find your own version of that waterfall, whatever quiets your mind and reminds you who you are outside of work. 💛

When was the last time you took a mental day, and what did you do with it? 👇🏽

It really does take a village 🤍

Looking back on this TELEMUNDO LAS VEGAS interview and thinking about everything that goes into moments like these.

What viewers see is just a few minutes on screen. What they don't see are the conversations, preparation, coordination, and collaboration that happen long before the cameras start rolling.

Thankful to everyone who plays a part in making opportunities like this possible. Great storytelling is always a collective effort and we are so grateful to be a part of that process✨

You see the headlines. We see everything that happens before them.

Behind every media placement is strategy, storytelling, relationship building, and plenty of behind-the-scenes coordination. From pitch to placement (and everything in between), every step is intentional. ✨

Here's a look at the work behind the media wins and the many moving pieces that help our clients' stories get seen, heard, and remembered.
