πΎ The many hats of owning / running Pounce 3D Prints πΎ
People see the cute lighted prints, the fidgets, the lamps, and the personalized keepsakes at Pounce 3D Prints. β€οΈ But have you ever wondered how many hats it takes to keep a small business running? π
Letβs just sayβ¦ I need a bigger hat rack! π©
As the owner of Pounce, I wear a little bit of every hat imaginable:
π¨ The Creative Director β Coming up with new ideas, themes, products, and ways to make our displays stand out.
π¨οΈ The 3D Printing Enthusiast β Learning about products, exploring possibilities, and helping turn ideas into tangible creations.
ποΈ The Merchandiser β Arranging displays, making products look irresistible, and figuring out how to make every inch of space count.
π¦ The Inventory Manager β Keeping track of products, supplies, packaging, and everything we need to keep creating.
π° The Accountant β Tracking expenses, calculating profit margins, paying rent and fees, and making sure the numbers actually work. (Spoiler: sales are not the same thing as profit! π
)
π³ The Cashier & POS Manager β Keeping the checkout system running and making sure sales and transactions are accounted for.
π£ The Marketing Department β Writing Facebook posts, taking pictures, planning promotions, brainstorming taglines, and trying to convince the algorithms that we exist!
πͺ The Event Planner β Preparing for markets, organizing activities, dreaming up creative events, and finding ways to bring people together.
π€ The Community Connector β Collaborating with other small businesses, helping customers discover local makers, and finding opportunities for us all to grow together.
π§Ή The Maintenance Crew β Handling the unglamorous stuff that nobody sees but somebody has to do.
π§ The Problem Solver β Troubleshooting, adapting, making decisions, and figuring out what to do when the original plan goes sideways.
π The Logistics Coordinator β Moving products, hauling supplies, preparing for events, and somehow getting everything where it needs to be.
π The Business Strategist β Thinking about pricing, new products, sales goals, expenses, and how to keep Pounce moving forward.
π‘ The Chief Idea Generator β Because apparently, sitting quietly and having NO new ideas is not part of the job description!
π The Part-Time Grief Counselor β Because sometimes a customer isnβt just buying a lighted print. Theyβre remembering someone they love, preserving a precious moment, or finding a little comfort in having a memory close by. Sometimes the job means listening, sharing a quiet moment, and remembering that what we create can mean so much more than the product itself.
β€οΈ And the Biggest Hat of All: The Person Who Believes in the Dream. β Supporting the vision, celebrating the wins, learning from the disappointments, and continuing to show up even when running a small business feels like running twelve businesses at once.
The truth is, small business ownership isnβt just about making and selling things. Itβs about building something, solving problems, connecting with people, and wearing whatever hat the day demands.
And tomorrow? Iβll probably discover a hat I forgot to list! π
What hat do YOU think small business owners wear that customers rarely get to see? Tell me in the comments! π
