WE’RE HIRING — XACTIMATE ESTIMATOR / SUPPLEMENTER

Get The Full Scope is growing! We’re looking for an experienced Xactimate Estimator / Supplementer to join our team on a 1099/contract basis.

This is not an entry-level position — industry experience is a must.

What we’re looking for:

* Xactimate estimating experience
* Roofing/exterior restoration knowledge
* Strong understanding of building code & manufacturer requirements
* Basic knowledge of the insurance claims process
* Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
* Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
* References and/or examples of past estimates/supplement work are a BIG plus
* Xactimate certification is a plus, but experience matters most
* Most contractors will need their own computer/equipment

💰 Compensation

Estimate Writing Only:
$75–$100+ per estimate, depending on size and complexity.

Experienced Supplementers:
For those who can manage supplements, communicate with carriers and negotiate increases, compensation can be up to 5% of the approved increase.

There is real earning potential here for someone who knows how to build a file, support what they’re asking for, and get results.

We’re looking for someone reliable, knowledgeable, and ready to work — not someone we have to teach the industry from the ground up.

Stupid Stuff Adjusters Say...

Homeowner has a damaged custom entry door.

Adjuster: "Maybe watch This Old House on YouTube and see if you can replace it."

I wish I was making this up.

Listen, changing a light switch? Sure. Replacing a high-end exterior door that has to be perfectly aligned, sealed, secured, and weather-tight? That's not exactly a Saturday afternoon YouTube project.

The crazy part is that people pay insurance premiums for years expecting to be put back where they were before the loss—not to become amateur carpenters overnight.

A custom door isn't just a slab. It's hinges, jambs, thresholds, hardware alignment, weather seals, finishes, and making sure everything actually works when you're done.

But hey... what do contractors know? We've only been doing this for years. 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes I genuinely don't know whether to laugh, cry, or start a podcast. Trending towards podcast.....

Contractors… we need to have an uncomfortable conversation.

The race to the bottom is becoming a bigger problem than the storms.

Lowball estimates aren’t just hurting profit margins anymore — they’re changing expectations. When scopes are intentionally stripped down to beat the next guy, it starts impacting perceived "industry standard pricing" across platforms like Xactimate, Verisk, and the data that carriers and others rely on.

We’re seeing estimates with things conveniently disappearing:

❌ Missing drip edge
❌ Reusing rusted or damaged flashings
❌ Leaving off required accessories
❌ Ignoring code upgrades
❌ Underestimating labor and material quantities
❌ “We’ll figure it out later” scopes

Then the contractor who actually writes for complete, code-compliant work gets told:

"The other estimate came in way lower."
"That seems expensive."
"Another contractor said none of that was needed."

Here's the problem: roofs aren’t cheaper to build correctly. Siding systems didn’t suddenly stop needing proper accessories. Flashings don’t magically become reusable because someone wants to win a bid.

And when enough contractors normalize incomplete scopes, it starts affecting everyone — homeowners, claim expectations, pricing trends, and the contractors trying to do things the right way.

Winning jobs by removing necessary line items isn’t efficiency. It’s creating a long-term industry problem.

A lower price doesn't automatically equal a better contractor. Sometimes it just means somebody left things off.

This industry can get LOUD.

Private equity races. Lawsuits. Regulation changes. Process changes. Industry drama. Everybody chasing the next shiny thing, arguing online, or worrying about who's buying who and who's beating who.

Meanwhile... homeowners still need honest people. Contractors still need trusted partners. Relationships still matter.

The best thing I've learned over the years? Ignore the noise. Keep your eyes on your lane.

Build trust. Build rapport. Answer your phone. Keep your word. Treat homeowners right. Treat industry partners right. Be the person people remember for the right reasons.

Do good work. Be a good human. Help people.

The money eventually catches up.

5 Things Almost Every Roof Estimate Misses

Most roof estimates look complete at first glance—but once the project starts, that’s when the gaps show up.

Over time, we’ve seen the same items get missed again and again:

1. Starter & Ridge Materials
These are critical to proper installation and wind resistance, but are often overlooked or under-scoped.

2. Ventilation Adjustments
Roof systems need proper airflow. Missing or incorrect ventilation can lead to long-term issues that go beyond just the roof surface.

3. Ice & Water Barrier Requirements
Especially in colder climates, proper placement and coverage are essential, not optional.

4. Flashing Details
Transitions, penetrations, and tie-ins require proper flashing. Missing these can lead to leaks and callbacks.

5. Detach & Reset Items
Gutters, guards, accessories—these all need to be accounted for when completing the work properly.

These aren’t upgrades or extras, they’re part of completing the job the right way.

The issue usually isn’t the estimate itself… it’s what never made it into the scope.

I recently went through a training put on by John Senac and Chris Zimmerman on building a true front-end evidence package… and I’ll be honest with you… this is the kind of stuff that separates average contractors from the ones who actually get paid correctly…& the contractors who truly care about their customers.

What they’re teaching isn’t theory. It is PROCESS!!

So we put it to work immediately on a recent file:
