On June 11, 1987, during his third historic pilgrimage to Poland, Pope John Paul II visited the city of Szczecin. Hundreds of thousands of faithful gathered at Jasne Błonia (Bright Meadows Square) to attend Mass celebrated by the Polish Pope. His visit inspired hope, strengthened faith, and encouraged Poles during the final years of communist rule. The event became one of the most memorable moments of his 1987 pilgrimage and is still commemorated in Szczecin today.
