Tressa on the Yinz Are Good podcast spent some time talking with our very own Danielle Gregor!

They talked about the story behind Sign Language Interpreting Professionals (SLIP), how family experiences shaped the company, and why meaningful communication access matters during both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life.

SLIP began more than 20 years ago because Joanne wanted to do right by her Deaf parents, their friends, and the community. That purpose still guides everything Danielle, and team, do today.

They also talked about ASL, the work of connecting communities, and the responsibility that comes with earning the trust of the people we serve.

Danielle our Owner and CEO interned under Richard Meritzer, so it’s incredibly meaningful to her to now serve on the committee that selects an award recipient in his name.

Richard’s impact on accessibility and inclusion in Pittsburgh continues to ripple through this community, and this award honors individuals and organizations carrying that work forward by creating meaningful, measurable change.

Nominations are now open for the 8th Annual Richard Meritzer Award, presented by Film Pittsburgh, the City of Pittsburgh–Allegheny County Task Force on Disabilities, and ReelAbilities Pittsburgh.

If you know a person or organization advancing accessibility and inclusivity in Pittsburgh or Allegheny County, I encourage you to submit a nomination.
