July 2026 was the busiest single month for calls for service in department history, with our crews responding to 390 incidents throughout the community.

From emergency medical calls and rescues to fires, hazardous conditions, service calls, and false alarm responses, our firefighters and paramedics remained ready around the clock to answer the call.

As call volume continues to increase, we are on pace to be close to 4,000 calls for service in 2026, which would mark another significant milestone for our department.

As we head into fireworks season, here are a few quick reminders to help keep everyone safe and informed:

Fireworks can be used on these dates and times (unless restricted locally):

Memorial Day weekend: 4 PM – 11 PM
Juneteenth (June 19): 4 PM – 11 PM
July 3, 4, 5 + surrounding weekends: 4 PM – 11 PM
Labor Day weekend: 4 PM – 11 PM
New Year’s Eve: 4 PM – 11:59 PM
New Year’s Day: 12 AM – 1 AM & 4 PM – 11 PM
Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Diwali: 4 PM – 11 PM

Fireworks are restricted within the City of Powell and are only permitted on specific approved holidays and times.
📞 Calling 911
Please DO NOT call 911 for fireworks during legal days/times.
Only call if fireworks are used outside permitted times or if there is an emergency (fire, injury, etc.).

🚒 Training in Action at Station 321 🚒
Over the past several weeks, our crews have been hard at work at the Station 321 extrication pad, using three donated vehicles to train on vehicle stabilization, patient access, and extrication techniques. These hands-on sessions are critical in helping our firefighters and paramedics stay sharp and ready to safely remove trapped occupants during serious motor vehicle crashes.
We’d like to give a big thank you to Heavy Metal Towing & Recovery for their continued support—delivering and removing vehicles and helping make this training possible.
Partnerships like this play a huge role in keeping our team prepared for the emergencies we face in our community every day. 💪
