So proud of and grateful for Natalie Trav sharing this very personal story with such a powerful message about how we must think differently and do differently in our approach to supporting mothers (and families), and the tapestry of people that support them. Thank you for being vulnerable and honest about this truly special experience and important issue.

For those that don't know, Natalie is the magic behind the HSI branding and communications through her company Apogee Creative, where she continues to make a transformative impact on communities while being a great mom.

The journey of matrescence is different for every woman, and I share this story to remind new moms out there that it’s OK to not be OK, and to seed the conversa...

Leadership is about ENVISIONING a better future and INSPIRING others to join you in CREATING it.

A core responsibility of a board is setting the strategic direction of an organization, on behalf of community, and getting this right is both a legal and fiduciary responsibility.

This is a story of moving quickly to transform circumstances and meet a significant community need. Friends and neighbors experiencing housing instability and homelessness during the pandemic faced circumstances far beyond their ability to overcome, and they and the staff of homeless service agencies were at risk and were dying. Waiting for that to happen wasn't something Kelly King Horne was going to do. Listen to the whole conversation on Human Service Innovations, LLC’s podcast Impact Unbound with host John Dougherty and subscribe to Impact Unbound on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.

Introducing Impact Unbound, a series of conversations with leaders driving impact in their communities and pushing the limits on what's possible.

In this first episode, we talk about a time when the pandemic was leaving millions of people with work — and without housing. In a few short weeks, Kelly King Horne, executive director for Homeward, and John Dougherty, our show's host, navigated the complexity of finding housing in a distancing world. Partnering with housing resource partners, healthcare systems and hotels they were able to help facilitate non-congregate safe shelter for over 2,500 individuals in the first year of COVID-19. What was rapid fire innovation turned into transformative system building that has become foundational to how the regional system collaboratively supports their friends and neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Join Kelly and John as they explore how they transformed crisis into opportunity, and subscribe to Impact Unbound on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.

Huge thanks to Signal House Richmond for helping us produce Impact Unbound!

Thinking and acting in alignment with a clear set of values prepares an organization to navigate change because the work of understanding shared ownership and belonging has already driven the commitment required to move through it.

Values cement the guardrails that keep the leaders, team members and organization on track when moving toward their shared goals. Applying focus on values and gaining clarity on how they influence tough decisions to keep the mission delivery adaptive and effective can be the most fulfilling and powerful moves an organization can make.

How are you and your organization using values to guide your work and impact your success?
