For others, "done" is collecting a fee.

"What are your salary expectations?" They ask early, and let's say you're not ready to name a number.

Try: "I'd love to understand the full scope of the role first, including responsibilities, team size, and any on-call expectations. Do you have a budget range you're working with?"
