Great eLearning doesn't just teach. It motivates.
We're proud to recognize Phil Cowcill for his contribution to the Treasure Trove of Awesome eLearning, featured in Rethinking eLearning.
With a career spanning more than four decades in educational technology, multimedia development, mobile learning, and instructional design, Phil has consistently pushed the boundaries of what's possible in digital learning. From helping develop Canada's first Interactive Videodisc to leading innovative eLearning and mobile application programs, his impact on the learning industry is remarkable.
One of Phil's featured Treasure Trove examples demonstrates the power of motivational eLearning through a sentence structure course that's anything but ordinary.
As learners travel through our solar system, they identify parts of sentences while exploring planets, moons, and space technology. Along the way, they earn badges and rewards, engage with Confidence-Based Learning, and build not only stronger writing skills but greater self-awareness about their understanding.
It's a great reminder that learning doesn't have to be a choice between engagement and effectiveness. The best learning experiences accomplish both.
Thank you, Phil, for sharing your expertise and helping showcase what's possible when instructional design is paired with creativity and purpose.
