DJI just launched its 2026 World Heritage 3D Conservation Initiative, inviting drone operators to capture and digitally preserve cultural and natural landmarks using aerial mapping, DJI Terra reconstruction, and 3D flythrough videos through DJI Reality. Submissions are open through October 10, and it’s a fun reminder of how far drone-based photogrammetry has come — from job site progress flights to literally archiving history. If you’ve got a drone sitting in the truck, this could make for a great side project. Know of a local landmark worth mapping? Tell us in the comments — we might just want to fly it too.
