Getting there is hard. Staying there is harder.

That's what I tell every athlete I work with — because the second you think you've arrived, you stop doing the thing that got you there.

Here's why it matters more than most players realize: coaching staffs change constantly. One of our girls had her ENTIRE staff let go at her JUCO. She called me panicking.

I told her to breathe and answer one question: what impression did you leave last season?

Her answer — "I played hard in front of everybody. Every game." 💯

So we made a plan. Get your release. Call every coach in your conference. Let the tape and the reputation do the talking.

She got a 100% scholarship. Same conference. Different program.

The people watching you compete aren't only the ones recruiting you today. Sometimes they're the ones who'll save your career next year.

Play like it. Carry yourself like it. Every rep. 🔥

📌 Save this for the next time you don't feel like giving full effort.

Sometimes it's not a swing overhaul. It's something as simple as the way you hold the bat or a timing mechanism relative to the pitcher

In this one, Lavelle breaks down what actually shows up on film — grip pressure that's choking the bat and creating less acceleration through the zone with the bat, a stride too long will not allow the hips fire, hands breaking late so the arm never gets to the proper arm slot, a pitcher landing heel-locked leg and killing the rotation which will cause you to fly open. Small stuff. Fixable stuff. The kind of thing you can't feel in the box or see on the mound in game, but can't miss on video.

Travel ball parents, high school arms, uncommitted juniors — this is the eye you want on your player.

And if you've been waiting for a way to get Lavelle in your corner for more than just mechanics — a mentor for the game and for everything that comes with the recruiting process — something new drops soon. Stay close. 👀

Six of the best programs in college baseball. Seventeen national championships between them.

We went through everything their head coaches have said publicly about recruiting and lined it up side by side.

Not one of them led with a ranking.

Tim Corbin talks about fit — and brings recruits in on a normal Tuesday so families see the real workload instead of a game-day show.

Jay Johnson won't take a player who treats college as the backup plan if the draft disappoints.

Brian O'Connor built a College World Series lineup out of players who stayed all four years.

Dave Van Horn is blunt about it: the SEC is a full-grown man league, and freshmen usually aren't ready for it.

Erik Bakich tells families to slow down and actually make the draft decision together.

Jim Schlossnagle says players write the lineup. Not rankings. Not the living-room conversation.

Six coaches. Six different programs. Same six answers.

Fit. Compete. Character. Work. Commitment. Earning it.

Nobody mentioned your travel org. Nobody counted your showcases.

Swipe through — then ask honestly which of those six your athlete is actually working on this month.

Every parent of a ballplayer eventually hits the same wall.

Your kid is good. Coaches say it. You see it. They've put in years of early mornings, long weekends, and drives you stopped counting a long time ago.

And then one day you realize you have absolutely no idea what happens next.

Nobody sends you a manual. There's no timeline in the mail. The rules change, the roster spots shrink, and the transfer portal quietly filled a lot of the seats your kid was aiming for. Meanwhile every other week another company promises "exposure" — which usually means your athlete's name in a mass email to 500 coaches who never open it, plus a renewal invoice next year.

Exposure isn't a plan. It's noise.

College Baseball & Softball Recruiting was built for the families stuck in that gap. Not a database. Not a profile page. A system.

An honest evaluation of where your athlete truly stands. A development plan built around their position and timeline. Real coach relationships across every level — JUCO, NAIA, D3, D2, D1, and major programs. And guidance that doesn't stop the day they commit; it continues through eligibility, the portal, and college graduation.

Lavelle Morgan has placed 700+ athletes. 20+ years in select baseball, 6+ years playing professionally, 10 years as an associate scout. He knows what coaches actually look for — because he spent a decade being the guy in the stands deciding.

CBSR works with baseball AND softball athletes across the U.S., Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. One fee. No annual renewals. And only 75 athletes per class, per year, per sport — because personal attention isn't possible at scale.

If your athlete is in middle school or high school and serious about playing college ball, the best time to build the plan is before the window opens. Not after.

Everyone watches the kid who goes 3-for-3. Scouts watch the kid who goes 0-for-3.

Here's what most families never hear:

The talent gets you noticed. What you do on your worst day gets you signed.

When a real scout evaluates your athlete, the at-bats are almost the least of it. They're watching everything else 👇

→ How they get off the bus→ How they treat teammates when nothing's working→ Whether they still sprint on and off the field down 0-for-3→ Whether they make the adjustment, pitch to pitch, on a bad night→ How they respond to a coach who's correcting them in front of everyone

Anybody can look like a prospect when the barrel's finding grass.

The kids who make it are the ones who compete the same way when it isn’t, because coaches aren't buying one good game. They're buying who your kid is when the game turns on them.

That's the part you can't fake, and it's the part we help athletes build long before a coach is ever watching.

Baseball or softball, wherever you play, if your athlete wants to play at the next level, let's talk.

The level of competition changed. Her mindset didn't. 🥎

Kaiyah Ratu just stepped up against big-school softball talent — and her approach to the game is the kind of thing you hear in pro clubhouses:

Chase perfection knowing you'll never catch it. Because if you're chasing it, you have no choice but to get better every day.

Same mindset every game. Great teammate in or out of the lineup. Never satisfied with yesterday's version of herself.

This clip is from a recent CBSR Podcast episode on college softball recruiting.
