Hi fb friends! Long post!
My body has decided it needs to stop
Doing quite so much physical work. I’ve been nursing, maintaining & working with a very damaged back for many years. 35 to be exact and dealing with the effects of a congenital heart issue since birth. Things get worse as you age. Shocker!!! Not looking for sympathy just ideas!
I have to significantly alter my work load to increase my quality of life and to have some time to care for my own horses in a way that is true to who I am and who they are.
I’ve been brainstorming on how best to make this happen for me and how best to make this happen for the potential person who could help me.
My first thought is providing housing for one person, preferably a woman ( but will entertain the idea of a man who seems he could be a good fit it & may entertain 2 people just depends on the situation & the size trailer I purchase. A Dog is possible but they need be very well trained. Have absolute instant recall. No reaction to horses, other dog's cats, turkeys, chickens etc. and no bark and no playfully mugging people. The dog must have numerous references verifying its personality & behavior. And the dog may require a separate dog move in deposit. As damage happens very quickly.
In return for the housing (at a fair rental price) the new helper would help
With feeding & working specifically on Sundays. Sundays would be a full 8 hour work day. Feeding am & pm. Doing a ranch cleaning/maintensce. Some garden work. Horse up keep. Etc. Person would have one full Sunday off each month so they are not working every single Sunday.
Other work available other days would be shorter in hours. No full work days with more flexibility. Cleaning paddocks several days a week. General maintenance like cleaning ranch common areas. Some gardening. Some painting. Help filling hay nets and making supplement bags. Vacation care for some horses. Possibly some daily interaction care with my own horses - grooming, exercising, body work (I’d teach you) use of Beamer. Helping with hooves ie trimming & the application of composites (I’d teach you) all of this is more flexible than the Sunday work. We can work around your schedule for these other things to a degree.
The details about the job and the ranch & me. Pay is 25.00 an hour. Numbers of hours and days worked to be determined between owner and prospective tenant/helper. Helper would have a private residence here. Very small yard. A small garden possible.
I willing to try and work around someone’s current work schedule but to be very clear I’m looking for someone who respects and protects their job with me first. Not looking for last minute phone calls saying you can’t show up cause your other job needs you. This job has to be the priority and I will make sure you are my priority. I know these situations cannot work well unless both parties are good communicators understand each other schedules, and needs and are reasonable. Good communication a must. That sounds simple but it’s harder to find than you think.
I’m an honest person who likes to talk any conflict out so it does not become more so if you are conflict resolution fearful & become defensive in trying to
Discuss an issue - that wouldn’t be a great fit for me.
I’m looking for some one to commit to
A minimum of a year as I’d be investing a great deal of time teaching.
Ideal candidate has a a lot of Horse experience. They may even own a horse which could be boarded here when we have space that comes up if that’s of any interest. The ideal candidate would have a job that is flexible or if they aren’t currently employed when they do find a job it would need to be one That is quite flexible. Working from home is ideal. A love of Horses is imperative a love for living in the country is imperative and being interested in growing and learning and becoming a better Horse person may not be imperative but it’s a good goal. Good social skills a must
So if you have some thoughts that could enhance this situation for owner & helper I’d love to hear them.
If you know someone you think this might be a great fit for please pass my info on.
What I have outlined above is not set in stone. It’s a starting place. I’m looking for the right person to create a situation that would benefit both of us. This needs to be a win win type of thing
