At XM Performance we have a burning passion and focus to develop leaders. In America our identities and place in society is completely determined by our vocations. Think about it, every time you meet someone new, after you learn their name, what i

s the first question you ask? “What do you do?” All of our value, worth and position in our society is based on our answer to this question. As a business owner or leader you have an incredibly powerful position of influence with your employees. This position has the potential to be life changing, for them and for you. As a leader you can inspire and focus your team to exceptional performance, making business easier for you, while giving your employees a fulfilling experience at work. Alternatively, you can give them a J-O-B, and wonder why you can never find employees that really care about your business. Want to know how to find exceptional employees? Be an exceptional business leader.

To high-drive, visionary owners/founders passing the business to their sons/daughters/successors: you will not be satisfied playing golf (riding bikes MAYBE ).

While the business you grew ISN'T your personality, your drive to create change IS. Account for this, and think critically about your next Big Why.

Building up leaders in all shapes and sizes this week!

Say hi to Lulu. Her communication style (as you can see) is slower paced.

We talk with lots of frustrated successors who feel ready to take over, but can't convince the founder to step back. Often, from low confidence and/or experience, this next generation seems too disadvantaged to lead.

So the founder wanders back, overrides decisions, and confuses the crew.

Legacies are on the line - check out our new Generational/Succession Handoff series to carefully plan for a steady transition.

Directing the Ohio Department of Transportation crews through life-saving road projects takes a certain kind of leader.

Ryan Mainey and Whole Impact's Andrew McCoy just kicked off 1/4 leadership onsite sessions to help these transportation managers elevate their potential. We used DiSC to expand their understanding of how to communicate with their teams. Sounds simple, but this is MONUMENTAL in high-pressure jobs where you can't predict the next distraction.

Proud of these TMs for taking their masks off and doing the hard work.

As an owner, how are you making the team feel seen? What are you doing to make culture stick?

At our workshop last week in PHX, Barry Chasse carved out time to recognize two leaders from Tucson who are more often in the field than in their office. He handed them each a "Barry"lito and acknowledged their behind-the-scenes work.

Simple gestures like these prevent culture from becoming a one-time podium speech. The energy will only hold if you (and your leaders) consistently keep the momentum.

Your employees want coaching feedback. It's life-changing for them, so why do we deprive our teams?

Answer: We dread the awkwardness and potential conflict. We take opportunities to grow for granted because inaction is more comfortable.

The Bad Ass Leaders at Chasse Building Team embraced the discomfort of feedback directly. And they're already committed to expressing through the hardest conversations leaders NEED to have.

It's ALL about the handoff - practicing and preparing for that seamless transition. Founders hesitate and stall the business. Successors drop the baton and risk tearing the family apart.

Founders, we get it: when you've poured your life into a company, it stops being what you do and becomes who you are. And letting go of that legacy is scary.

A successful transition needs both Founder and Successor committed to the hard, uncomfortable work of letting go / leading up. We can help.

If the daily operations of your company still depend heavily on your personal involvement, it will be vulnerable to a messy handoff. We consistently see transitions stall because critical knowledge is trapped with one legacy manager instead of being built into a repeatable process.

We guide teams through the reality of stepping back. Our new Generational Handoffs/Succession Solutions series breaks down how to protect your operations, your people, and your bottom line during a leadership transition.
