🚨 FAMU HOMECOMING UPDATE: A CELEBRATION TURNED INTO TRAGEDY
What should have been a weekend of celebration, tradition, and Black excellence turned into a heartbreaking tragedy near Florida A&M University.
A shooting during FAMU’s homecoming weekend left 12 people injured, including six minors. Authorities arrested a 15-year-old suspect, who faces 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Think about that for a moment. A 15-year-old.
Homecoming represents more than football, parties, and entertainment. For HBCUs, it’s about legacy, family, culture, opportunity, and generations coming together to celebrate something bigger than themselves.
But incidents like this force us to confront some uncomfortable questions about youth violence, community accountability, and the environments we’re creating for the next generation.
How do we protect our traditions while addressing the violence affecting our communities?
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone injured, their families, and the entire FAMU Rattler community. 🧡💚
