Today we celebrate an extraordinary woman, entrepreneur, and community pillar: Parveen Patwary! 🥂✨

From the very beginning, Parveen Patwary and Kabir Patwary have been a constant pillar of support to the Bangla Events, Bangla Bulletin, and Bangla Directory community, tirelessly championing cultural initiatives and empowering those around them.

Her life journey is a beautiful reflection of courage, unconditional love, and determination. Raised in Chandpur, Bangladesh by her maternal grandmother (whom she lovingly called "Ma"), Parveen grew up surrounded by boundless love, only discovering the full story of her biological mother's early passing later in life. Moving to the U.S. presented its own steep learning curve, but she turned initial cultural and administrative hurdles into step-by-step victories, building her own thriving business while giving back to the diaspora. Whether balancing family roles or mentoring fellow entrepreneurs, her story reminds us that true success is built on resilience and community support.

Yesterday was Nick Rowan's birthday — a day late, but wholeheartedly, we want to say something we don't say often enough.

You'll find Nick at almost every event we hold. But you'll rarely find him in the photo. He's behind the camera, phone raised, waiting for the moment you look your best — for the moment your story looks like it deserves telling. That's the Nick we carry with us: a man always pointing to the best in other people.

He's an accomplished Realtor, licensed in Maryland and Virginia with Trademark Realty. But ask him about marketing and he'll say something that stopped us in our tracks: if you take care of your client, that IS your marketing. Your clients become your marketing. In an industry full of billboards, bus benches and glossy postcards, Nick decided the strategy was simply to care — and it worked, because it was never really a strategy to begin with.

We know this firsthand. Nick was one of the very first to believe in Bangla Collective, back when the vision was still hard to explain. He didn't need convincing — he saw immediately what it could mean for a diaspora community: businesses that would become findable, people who would find each other.

And when Nick supports something, he doesn't write a check and step back. He becomes a stakeholder. He shows up to the planning. He asks the hard questions. He tells us the truth when we need to hear it. For an organization still finding its footing, having a mentor as much as a supporter has meant more than we can fit into a caption.

Honesty. Integrity. Friendship. Relationships at the front of everything he does. Nick builds relationships. Nick builds bridges. We work hard to be unique. It is much harder to be kind the way Nick Rowan is kind.
