The New York State Bottle Bill's outdated legislation has led to Buffalo's Best Bottle and Can Redemption Center being forced to return nearly 400 pounds of aluminum cans to the metal recycling plant. These cans, which do not qualify for deposit, are accepted by redemption centers free of charge, yet the onus falls on individual centers like ours to handle and process them at our own expense.

This issue highlights the need for an updated bill that includes modern containers and addresses the inefficiencies in the current system. The State's inaction has resulted in a significant financial burden on businesses like ours while the State benefits from unclaimed deposits, which amounted to $130 million last year.

We urge the public to contact their local representatives and advocate for a revised Bottle Bill that includes these containers and addresses the issues plaguing the industry. Buffalo's Best Bottle and Can Redemption Center
