This article is a useful reminder “how important daylight, movement, and social connection are to our overall wellbeing.”
I am certainly feeling the urge to hibernate as the days get darker and colder. I think it is important to listen to your body and find a natural rhythm: it is okay to slow down and snuggle in. But then also to recognise when you are vulnerable to anxiety or depression and need to push through the reluctance to go for that dog walk or make that social connection, because you will feel better for it.
In my experience, autumn/winter has always been quieter as a counsellor - people seem to ‘hunker down’ and wait to the new year before taking a step towards help.
Possibly the worst possible time to start a private practice counselling service you may think…but I’m ready to connect and offer a restorative space to support clients at what can be a difficult time of year.
You do not need to arrive with the right words or a clear explanation of what is wrong. You don’t need to talk about anything until you are ready. I’m not here to fix or offer advice. I’m here to give genuine connection, deep understanding and acceptance of you, just as you are and whatever you may bring.
Reaching out is free and I’m offering discounted sessions in November and December.
