What a privilege it was to have been asked to make a model of Jeppe High School For Boys Payn Hall. One of the first school buildings that was built in 1909. This was the second model we made for the school.
I did the scale design of the original plans from 1908, and it took me +/- 80 hours, an additional estimated 20 hours on the nesting for the laser cutter to engrave and cut which took 15 hours for all the components, the assembly took roughly 36 hours. But truly enjoyed designing and building the model.
The model was also shown in The Heritage Portal Newsletter about Jeppe High School For Boys Heritage route, link bellow.

First cut of section 1 of 5 x 22mm thick sections.
Machine time for section 1 is about 12 hours.
Total machine time close to 26 hours, clamping and glue not included.
Design took close to 7 hours total to get everything to working together.
Big project but end result will be worth it.

Upgraded a CronCraft laser from 5.5w to a 80w.
Tested at following settings.
Cut 3mm mdf thru in one pass at 350mm/min at 95%.
Engraved at +/- 5000mm/min at 90%.
This laser is a little beast.
OH and you can do stainless steel edging with it as well.

Had some fun and games with 2x Leadwood slabs we had to get level for tables and had to go out to clients.
Slabs sizes 3.3m long, 1.1m wide +/- 90mm thick.
The challenging part was to do the surfacing and leveling on a 1.2m x 1.2m cnc router, but as the saying goes " 'n Boer maak 'n plan" and we got it done in 2 1/2 days, 8 guys to shift, lift and turn the slabs

Another Kuhn Machine cnc router upgraded for a client.
Pulled out all the thin networks cable they used to the stepper motors and replaced it with proper shielded cable.
Took the Controller and power supply of the Y gantry and mounted everything in fixed box.
Upgraded the stepper motors, stepper motor drivers and belts.

One of the biggest cuts we did to date, had to take off about 40mm on a coffee table top in a limited amount of time.
1st cut was 20-25mm deep with 10mm step-over and 3000mm/min with a 25mm diameter 2 flute straight cutter. Had to because Z+ at it's limits.
2nd cut was 5mm depht/pass with 20mm step-over and 2200mm/min with a 50mm surfacing cutter.
