La Cave - premium range Our history dates back to 1906, 1907 and 1941 when Wellington Co-operative Winery, Bovlei Co-operative and Wamakersvallei Wines were founded respectively. The accomplishments of each winery, together with a passion for wine and

shared interest in enriching the Wellington Wine industry, led to the three wine giants combing forces, merging in 2013 to form Wellington Wines. Our 56 member farmers across Wellington and neighbouring areas of the Swartland and Paarl, work closely with our winemakers and viticulturists to ensure only the best grapes are grown and hand-selected for their outstanding quality. Our ranges all carry the trademark of true quality, inspired by the people, the terroir and the rich history of our valley.

🏆 TEN-TIME ABSA TOP 10 PINOTAGE WINNER! 🍷

We’re thrilled to share that Wellington Wines’ La Cave Pinotage 2024 has been named one of the 2026 Absa Top 10 Pinotage winners.

Even more special? This is the tenth time La Cave Pinotage has secured a coveted Top 10 place in one of South Africa’s most prestigious Pinotage competitions.

And what a year to do it.

The 2026 Absa Top 10 Pinotage Competition marks its 30th edition, celebrating three decades of excellence and 300 winning wines since the competition began in 1997.

To see La Cave Pinotage once again standing proudly among South Africa’s best is a milestone worth raising a glass to.

🏆 SA Champion Young Wine of 2026! 🍷

We’re incredibly proud to announce that a wooded Pinotage from Wellington Wines has been crowned SA Champion Young Wine of 2026 at the SA Young Wine Show, after first being named Best Pinotage.

The win sees Wellington Wines claim the prestigious General Smuts Trophy for the third time, following previous overall victories in 2018 with Pinotage and 2023 with Cabernet Sauvignon.

For 8 of the past 10 years, Wellington Wines has also produced the SA Champion Pinotage - an achievement that speaks to the remarkable affinity between Pinotage and our Wellington terroir, and to the dedication of our vineyard and cellar teams.

To everyone who played a part, from vineyard to cellar - congratulations! This one belongs to you. 🥂

🏆 A fantastic showing for Wellington Wines at the Paarl Regional Young Wine Show!

The results of the Paarl Regional Young Wine Show were announced this past weekend at a stylish reception held at Kronenburg Estate, and we are delighted to share that Wellington Wines once again achieved outstanding results.

The show recognises the best regional entries from the Paarl, Wellington, Tulbagh and Franschhoek areas entered into the annual SA Young Wine Show.

Wellington Wines proudly took home trophies for:

🍷 Best White Blend (Wooded) – Chenin Blanc / Chardonnay
🍷 Best Chenin Blanc (Wooded)
🍷 Best Pinotage (Wooded)
🏆 Best Wine from the Wellington Region

Warm up winter with a bold South African classic. 🍷🔥

La Cave Pinotage 2021 is now on special for R150 - normally R195.

Deep purple in colour, this beautifully balanced Pinotage offers inviting aromas of ripe plums, red berries, exotic spice and earthy beetroot, complemented by notes of coffee bean and vanilla. The palate is rich and focused, with finely grained tannins, integrated oak and a long, juicy finish of ripe plum and red fruit.

Perfect alongside barbecued beef, bobotie, lamb curry or grilled snoek.
