There comes a point where you stop shrinking yourself to make other people comfortable.

You stop apologising for being confident. For feeling sexy. For having boundaries. For wanting more. For being seen. For taking up space.

Owning the woman you are isn’t about becoming someone different — it’s about letting go of the parts of you that learned to hide.

This is so much of the work I love doing with women. ❤️

Coming back to yourself. Trusting yourself. And giving yourself permission to be fully YOU.

You don’t have to be falling apart to come to Counselling.

Sometimes you’re just tired of carrying the same things.

The overthinking.
The self-doubt.
The relationship patterns.
The people pleasing.
The anxiety.
Feeling stuck, lost or disconnected from yourself.

Sometimes you know something needs to change — you just don’t quite know how to get there.

Counselling can give you a space to unpack what’s really going on, understand yourself more deeply and start making changes that actually feel right for you.

My approach is warm, down-to-earth and holistic. No judgement. No clinical labels. Just a safe space to talk, explore, heal and move forward.

I currently have a few counselling appointments available, in person in Grange or online.

If you’ve been thinking about reaching out, send me a private message.

Recently, I went through my therapy room, I decided to pull everything out and only put back in there what needs to be in there. It's always good as a therapist, I believe, to clear your space, not just with essential oils or sage or intention, but also with the physical things that are in there. So my therapy room feels fresh, ready and clear. In the process, I threw out some old affirmations, some old bits and pieces that I havent looked at for a very long time. My bins got emptied last night, when I pulled my bins back in, there was this last message left on the ground, I feel like it is so appropriate for myself at the moment, and my clients 🩷

I hope you enjoy it too

For the teachers reading this...
Teaching is one of the few professions where your heart is involved in almost everything you do. You celebrate with your students when they succeed, worry about them when they're struggling and often carry those thoughts home long after the school day has finished.

It's one of the reasons emotional exhaustion can creep up so gradually.
It doesn't always feel like stress.

Sometimes it feels like you're becoming impatient more easily.
Finding it harder to switch off.

Feeling flat during the holidays when you expected to feel refreshed.
If you've been feeling this way, please know you're not alone.
Teachers spend so much time supporting others that it's easy to forget they deserve support too.

Over the coming months, I'm looking forward to creating some specialised wellbeing offerings for teachers because I truly believe they need spaces where they can be cared for, too.

You don't have to work through everything on your own. If you're ready to take that first step, I'd love to support you.

There is something about Bali...

People often ask me why I chose Bali for my retreat. Of course, it is beautiful. The rice fields, the warm weather and the peaceful surroundings certainly help. But that is not the real reason. For me, Bali has always been a place that invites people to slow down. Without even realising it, your breathing softens. You spend less time looking at your phone. Conversations become deeper. You remember what it feels like to wake without rushing.

That is exactly what I wanted this retreat to offer.

Not an escape from life, but an opportunity to step away from the noise long enough to hear yourself again. We will spend our days immersed in beautiful surroundings, sharing meaningful conversations and allowing space for reflection, laughter, movement and rest.

It is not about becoming someone new. It is about reconnecting with the person you have always been beneath the busyness of everyday life.

Our next I AM WOMAN Retreat will be held in beautiful Ubud from 26 April to 2 May 2027, and places are intentionally limited to just ten women.

If you have ever dreamt of giving yourself something like this, I would love you to begin imagining what that week might feel like.

Perhaps it is exactly what your heart has been quietly asking for.

Teachers spend their days caring for everyone else.

Over the past few months, I've had more conversations with teachers who are feeling emotionally exhausted. Interestingly, very few of them begin by talking about lesson planning or marking. They talk about the child they're worried about. The difficult conversation with a parent who stayed with them long after they got home. The student they couldn't stop thinking about over the weekend.

Teaching asks so much of people emotionally, and because caring is such a big part of the profession, many teachers forget that they need somewhere safe to put those feelings too.

Supporting others is meaningful work, but it shouldn't come at the expense of your own well-being.

If you're a teacher reading this and you've been feeling like you're carrying more than you can manage, I hope you know that asking for support isn't a sign of weakness. It's one of the healthiest things you can do.

A huge thank you to Susan for running such a fantastic Teacher’s Wellbeing Space last night. Susan Lister - Holistic Counsellor and Wellbeing Coach

We loved learning about simple, practical ways to create more space for ourselves and better manage the stress that comes with teaching every day.

One of the biggest takeaways was that creating space doesn’t have to mean making huge changes. It can be found in small moments throughout the day, including in the way we respond to things.

“Let me sleep on it” is such a simple but powerful example of setting a healthy boundary and giving yourself time and space before responding.

We also loved the relaxation activity and the reminder of how important it is to intentionally slow down, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

Susan has also very kindly shared the recording from last night’s session, so if you missed it as we did, definitely take some time to watch the playback. It was fabulous and well worth catching up on.

Thank you again, Susan, for creating such a supportive and valuable space for our teacher community.

You can join Susan’s Facebook group specifically for teacher wellbeing here: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/197XVK5ykS/

If you managed to get along to the session last night or you’re watching the playback, we would love to see in the comments below what your takeaways were and what you do to create space in your day.
