As the construction industry continues to build (see what we did there) in Northern Queensland, it's hardly surprising that this is an Industry we regularly support.

Both levels of Government getting behind policies that drive new housing builds, new people continuing to move to the area from elsewhere in Australia and strong infrastructure and commercial development all combine to ensure construction growth is not slowing any time soon. 🏭Warehousing and logistics keeps North Queensland moving.🚚

Northern Queensland warehousing and logistics is a multi-billion dollar industry, dominated by road freight and vital supply chains to regional hubs like Cairns, Townsville, and Mount Isa. From these hubs freight is distributed across the hundreds of regional and remote communities in the far north by road, air and sea.

As e-commerce becomes such an integral part of life, the warehousing and logistics industry is projected to continue to grow significantly over the coming decade creating many new opportunities.

While one of the core pathways for working in the industry remains entry level roles in warehouses, for which you only need the right PPE, good computer literacy and a willingness to work, there are qualifications available that boost your chances of finding roles in warehousing and logistics.

High Risk Work licences, Forklift and Working at Heights Tickets and the Certificate level courses in Supply Chain Operations are all highly sought after in the industry.

A huge majority of Australia’s freight is transported by road, so licenced truck drivers are also in very high demand. Upgrading your licence to a heavy rigid (HR) or multi-combination (MC) class will be hugely beneficial if driving for work appeals to you.

❓ What exactly is Civil construction❓
👷 Civil Construction is the planning, design, and building of infrastructure, including roads, bridges, water supply and drainage systems and dams.

Civil Construction is funded by both Government and Private Companies depending on the type of project and where it is. Projects can range from road repairs and upgrades, developing areas for residential building, mining projects and even wharf and shipyard construction.

The industry employs almost 30,000 people throughout Queensland, and many roles are in regional and remote centres or fully remote locations.

Given the nature of most project work, physically fit labourers with a white card at a minimum are required for these roles. A drivers licence and additional machinery tickets, or a certificate level course in Civil Construction will help employees stand out when applying, as will previous experience in construction or machinery operation.

EMG Workforce has a great opportunity for a Horticulture Trainee to join our supportive team for a 24-month, full-time traineeship based right here in Hopevale!

In this role, you'll be out in the field helping with land management, w**d control, planting, and caring for crops. You'll get hands-on experience using tools and equipment, learn to follow safety procedures, and keep detailed records.
