🔥 HARDWOOD TIMBER STRIP OUT, THE GAP 🔥
This one tested the whole crew.

A flooring retailer brought us in to pull up the solid hardwood timber across the living area, kitchen and hallway of a large home at The Gap. The boards were direct stuck, glued hard onto a Sikafloor-4020 FiberLevel topping that sat over plywood and cement fibre sheet depending on the area.

The bond was something else. It gripped so hard that whole pieces of plywood tore away with the timber and adhesive still stuck to them. No shortcuts and no easy way around it. Hammers, pry bars, edge cutters and a full crew working it out section by section.

The adhesive was left in place on the floor. No grinding at this stage, because the client is now deciding whether to repair and top the existing subfloor or replace the sheets altogether before the new solid timber goes down. That is where we handed it back, prepped and ready for them to assess and plan the next move.

Wet ceramic tiles, swollen timber, lifting vinyl, soaked carpet and the damp substrate underneath. We strip out the failed floor coverings, clear the rubbish, then get to the part that actually counts: the subfloor.

This is where most jobs go wrong. We test moisture properly with Tramex moisture meters across concrete slabs, yellow tongue, particleboard, plywood and solid timber, so we know exactly what we are dealing with before anything new goes down. Concrete slabs that sweat, timber over joists or battens holding moisture, damp sitting under carpet. We find it and we address it.

Once the substrate is sound, we grind it back, install moisture barriers and waterproofing membranes where they are needed, then lay floor topping to finish it flat, level and true and ready for the new floor.
