When Leon and Rita Tokar purchased the property of Tokar Estate in June 1995, the land was covered in thistles, tussock grass and snakes. The plan was initially to produce grapes for their own consumption only – “to play at making wine ourselves, for ourselves”. However, the fabulous positioning of the site coupled with the extremely fertile soils made it an ideal location to undertake a modest pl

anting of Pinot Noir. With that, Leon Tokar’s vision was born and in 1996 the Vineyard itself was establishedin the Yarra Valley, with 30 acres under vines and producing premium fruit by 1998.

Our Cellar Door has a new splash of colour this Spring.

We’re currently showcasing a curated pop up gallery featuring original works by local artists Carolina Gartner and Angela Wilson from the Sherbrooke Art Society.

Browse the collection while enjoying a wine tasting, a glass of Tokar Estate wine or a relaxed afternoon overlooking the vineyard. All artworks are available to purchase and take home on the day.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate Father's Day with us today, from our Restaurant guests to those enjoying the sunshine and live music around the Cellar Door. It turned into a stunning spring day in the Yarra Valley.

Leon and Daniel took over the BBQ for the afternoon, with the wine never too far away.

Cabernet Sauvignon beyond the wine glass

The Vineyard Gin is a collaboration between Darling Distillery and Tokar Estate, using Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown here on our vineyard to create something a little different.

Father’s Day plans sorted

Book into the Cellar Door this Sunday for a casual afternoon at Tokar Estate. We’ve been keeping a very close eye on the forecast and, finally, the weather is looking good.

The BBQ will be fired up serving Kransky & Sauerkraut rolls, plus the classic snag in bread for the kids. Our platter menu will also be available throughout the afternoon.

For the kids, there’ll be marshmallow toasting and colouring, while the adults can settle in with Tokar wine, beer, cocktails and plenty of other drinks from the bar.

Our Restaurant is now fully booked for Father’s Day lunch, but there’s still room to join us at the Cellar Door.

Seating is unallocated, but bookings are required due to limited capacity
