Our world is not getting any better! We get call after call from people who have suffered a fraud, and been turned away by the police, and told its a civil problem. If this happens, and your case fits into the Qld CC 408C offence https://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/qld/consol_act/cc189994/s408c.html whereby someone gained a benefit, or you suffered a loss, based on DISHONESTY, then it is a POLICE matter. Do not be fobbed off, make a complaint. It should be some sort of tangible benefit, or loss. Proving fraud often requires pedantic investigation, documentation, but the case law on 'dishonesty' itself is supportivehttps://www.courts.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/86148/sd-bb-138-fraud-s408c.pdf .

The difficulty for some is that they start chasing through a solicitor, making it a civil case; if it is criminal, that is a job for the police. If you start with a solicitor after being fobbed off by the police I would argue the police may be liable for some of your costs, because their failure to investigate led you to incur massive civil legal fees, keep good notes, INCLUDING where police fob you off.
