We totally agree with this statement with one small adjustment and that is; great wines are made in certain vineyards as there is little doubt in our mind that the biggest determining factor on grape quality is where the grapevines are planted.

The regulars of Helen's Hill. 🐾

Some come for the vineyard views, some come for the sun on the deck, but most come for whatever falls off the table.

Our lawn & outdoor dining area are dog-friendly, with water bowls on the house, and a whole lot of vineyard to sniff. The w**e, sadly, is not on the house.

Bring your furry friend next time you visit. We'd love to meet them!

2025 was a good year for Pinot in the Yarra. Cool, slow, and generous with it. 🍷

The '25 Long Walk Pinot Noir is out now. Red fruit, fine tannins, and the kind of perfume that makes the second glass inevitable.

Months in barrel, and it's all over in about four seconds a bottle. Anticlimactic, if we're honest. But well worth it!

The Sangiovese, Heathcote Shiraz and Syrah are all in bottle now. They'll rest in the cellar a while longer before we let them out. 🍷

Bud burst. 🌱

Every one of these vines was cut back by hand in July, in the freezing mud, by a crew who move faster than anyone should in that weather. Allan joined them for a short stint, then fired himself. But he's back out there again, now it's warmed up - purely supervisory, he tells us.

This is where the 2027 vintage begins. What's going in your spring garden this year?
