Peter had a great week at International Road Federation - IRF Global R2T 2025, connecting with industry leaders from more than 50 countries and contributing to global conversations on the future of road safety and mobility.

From the sessions and discussions, three challenges stood out:

- MANAGING COMPLEXITY AT SCALE
From risk-rating the Trans-African Highway using remote sensing to understanding pavement recovery times, the challenge isn’t a lack of data; it’s turning it into clear, comparable insight.

- MOVING FROM STATIC PLANS TO REAL-TIME NETWORKS
Across urban and rural contexts, there is growing momentum behind real-time systems, from traffic signals prioritising emergency and transit vehicles to managing pedestrian and event movements dynamically.

- DESIGNING SAFETY AS A SYSTEM, NOT A FIX
A consistent theme was the Safe System approach: designing road networks that anticipate risk, adapt to conditions, and prioritise people at every stage.

It was a privilege for Peter to share the stage with peers from across the globe and to bring these insights back to the work we do with governments and road authorities.

Thank you to IRF and the speakers who made this such a valuable exchange.

Peter is on the ground at the International Road Federation - IRF Global Conference, joining delegates from 50+ countries to explore the future of safer, smarter transport networks.

Discussions have spanned an incredible range of innovation, including:
• Risk-rating the Trans-African Highway using remote sensing
• Assessing pavement recovery times
• Real-time traffic signal control for emergency vehicles, transit, special events and even pedestrian movements

It’s inspiring to see global collaboration driving practical solutions for safer and more efficient road networks.

Partnering with Explore the Mallee, our team used high-resolution LiDAR to help identify more than 200 potential Malleefowl mounds across conservation sites near Patchewollock, Victoria.

The data has already confirmed new active mounds; including some that had never been discovered during manual searching, showing how spatial technology can make a real impact for biodiversity and land management.

Huge thanks to Explore the Mallee for their collaboration, and to the Victorian Malleefowl Recovery Group, National Malleefowl Recovery Group, and Wettenhall Environment Trust for their support.

At Anditi, we work with our clients to achieve a positive impact for Malleefowl conservation.
From habitat assessment to population monitoring through identification of malleefowl mounds, we provide the tools, data, and expertise needed to help protect these unique birds and the ecosystems they rely on.

By partnering with Anditi, customers can:
• Monitor and safeguard Malleefowl populations
• Identify, restore and manage critical habitats
• Make data-driven conservation decisions
• Engage communities in meaningful wildlife protection
• Make fieldwork safer by reducing people in the field

Using data-driven solutions, we help our customers protect Malleefowl and ensure their survival.

Anditi’s Managing Director; Peter will be presenting at the International Road Federation - IRF Global R2T Conference & Exhibition this December in California.

This event brings together leaders who are shaping the future of transport and infrastructure and we’re looking forward to contributing our perspective on how geospatial data helps agencies make clearer, more confident decisions.

It’s also a chance to reconnect with peers, exchange ideas, and return home with new thinking to apply to the projects and partnerships we care about.

Stay tuned for more details on Peter’s session soon.

Following last week’s announcement of the iRAP 5-Star Performer Award, we wanted to share more about the groundbreaking project that made it possible.

Together with Main Roads Western Australia, Anditi delivered the world’s largest AiRAP assessment; analysing nearly 19,000km of roads and more than 69 million data attributes using LiDAR, imagery, and AI-powered analytics. This included mapping every guidepost and road sign along the highways, and producing detailed 3D images of the road network, showing the level of detail and precision now achievable in large-scale geospatial assessments.
This innovative approach has transformed how road safety data is captured and used, enabling faster, more accurate Star Ratings and supporting evidence-based investments that save lives.

Beyond road safety, the data captured through the Network LiDAR Project is now helping Main Roads WA streamline asset management, assess sight distance and overtaking opportunities, support flood recovery, monitor vegetation, inform road reconstruction after severe storm events, and more.
One data capture delivering huge value across the organisation!

The results speak for themselves: over 82% of vehicle travel in WA is now on 3-star or better roads, meeting the National Road Safety Strategy target ahead of 2030.

Western Australia is leading the way, showing what’s possible when data, innovation and collaboration come together.

We are honoured that Main Roads Western Australia and Anditi have received the iRAP 5-Star Performer Award for 2025!

This recognition celebrates our pioneering use of AI, LiDAR, and big data to transform road safety in Western Australia. Through the world’s largest AiRAP assessment; covering around 19,000 km of roads and analysing over 69 million data points, we’re turning data into actionable insights that save lives and support safer journeys for every road user.

We also acknowledge the fantastic work that iRAP does globally to improve road safety and the crucial support provided by Austroads through AusRAP here in Australia, which has been invaluable throughout this project.

Congratulations to the incredible teams at Main Roads WA and Anditi for their innovation, dedication, and collaboration. Together, we’re not just Star Rating roads, we are saving lives and setting a global standard in road safety innovation.

Road traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for children and teens worldwide. In Vietnam alone, 30–35 people lose their lives on the roads each day. Children and other pedestrians around schools are among the most at-risk road users.

iRAP’s Star Rating for Schools program uses AI, big data, and youth engagement to make school zones safer, aiming for 3-star or higher journeys to school. Its ultimate goal is to provide local authorities with actionable insights that reduce road fatalities and severe injuries among children.

Anditi is proud to support this initiative, applying data-driven analysis and spatial insights to identify the schools and areas most at risk, helping governments and communities focus interventions where they matter most.

Together, we’re transforming data into safer streets for children.
