Q: How do you address poor behaviour… when it’s been tolerated for years?
This is one we see all the time.
The hard truth?
If it’s been allowed, it’s no longer just behaviour —
it’s part of your culture.
And that’s what makes it tricky.
Because you’re not just correcting one person —
you’re hitting the reset button on expectations across the board.
That means:
👉 Being clear on what’s acceptable moving forward
👉 Having the conversation (even if it’s uncomfortable)
👉 Being consistent with everyone
👉 Actually following through
Because what’s tolerated doesn’t just continue…
it becomes the standard.
Handled well, this is a chance to reset.
Handled poorly, it reinforces the problem.
