Building a strong team isn’t just about bringing in the best it’s about building the best too. 💪

Jimmy joined Mister Membrane almost a year ago with solid construction experience, but zero waterproofing experience.

For the past 12 months, he’s worked alongside our tradesmen, learning the trade from the ground up and soaking up everything he can.

This past week, with one of our tradesmen away, Jimmy got the opportunity to step up, take the ute and work out on his own a big step forward in his development.

The goal? To have Jimmy out full-time on his own very soon. 👊

This is what progression looks like. Give good people the opportunity, back them, teach them, and watch them grow.

🚨 One of the biggest factors in getting a bathroom waterproofing installation right happens before we even arrive.

It all starts with the prep. 👇

🔨 1. Walls fully boarded out
Make sure the walls are fully boarded, with the floor-to-wall junctions and pe*******ons kept as tight as possible with minimal gaps.

🛠️ 2. Substrates ready to work with
Substrates need to be free from large divots, holes and sharp edges. We do clean and prep the substrate as part of our process, but it needs to be in a workable condition when we arrive.

🚧 3. Prevent cross-trade contamination
We understand the need to work alongside other trades, but dust and debris cannot get onto the membrane while it’s still wet.

Good waterproofing starts with good preparation.

Get the prep right, and you’re already one step closer to getting the waterproofing right. 💧

Every month at Mister Membrane, we run team incentives to boost morale, recognise our people, and help us focus on specific areas of the business.

This month, the task was simple but fun spread the Mister Membrane brand outside of work! 🌏

Jimmy from Team Liquids was showing off the Mister Membrane uniform at the brand new North Sydney Pool while getting a session in ahead of his upcoming Ironman. 🏊‍♂️💪

And Jordan from the Sheets team took us international, representing Mister Membrane on his recent trip to the Cook Islands! 🌴☀️

We love seeing the team get behind the brand, both at work and out in the world. A little friendly competition, a bit of creativity, and plenty of team spirit! 🙌

🚨 Bathrooms are one of the biggest risk areas on a build when it comes to waterproofing failures.
Here are our 3 biggest reasons we see bathrooms fail 👇

1️⃣ Incorrect thickness + bond breaker
Getting the membrane thickness right is critical, and your bond breaker needs to be 12mm.

2️⃣ Water stops not fully sealed
Make sure your water stops are completely sealed. One area that’s commonly missed is the top of the angle-to-wall join.

3️⃣ Pinholes in the membrane
One of the biggest causes of pinholes is either poor substrate preparation or the membrane not being properly worked into the surface.

💧 Get the details right from the start. Waterproofing failures can be costly to fix, so don’t cut corners.

Another one taking shape in Maroubra 👌

The Mister Membrane team recently completed the waterproofing to this high end residential project in Maroubra, using a Cosmofin LLV PVC sheet membrane system to the main roof area.

Once the PVC membrane installation was complete, we applied a two part cementitious membrane system over the perimeter upstand hobs, providing a fit-for-purpose waterproofing system across the entire roof area.

A great example of combining sheet and liquid applied membrane systems to achieve the right waterproofing solution for the project.

Ardex WPM 1000 installation completed by Eoghan. 👌

This project featured a box gutter along with some challenging external detailing around structural steel beams. The membrane has been installed as a secondary waterproofing layer, with the final stage being the installation of a Colorbond roof and matching Colorbond cappings.

The builder installed threaded rods through the floor sheeting to accommodate the future Colorbond structure, and each pe*******on was carefully detailed with a membrane patch and sealant to ensure a durable, watertight finish.

Quality preparation and attention to detail now mean the next stage can move ahead with confidence.

Another high end PVC roofing system nearing completion for at Vaulcluse

This project features the Cosmofin PVC membrane system from , chosen for its proven long-term performance and premium finish.

From perfectly welded seams to expertly detailed pe*******ons, every element of this roof has been completed with durability and longevity in mind.

Here, Robin is finalising the detailing to one of the roof anchor points, which will be completed with a stainless steel pipe clamp. He’s also completed gasket detailing to the threaded rods for the future solar panel installation because exceptional waterproofing is all about precision.

Here's a look at one of our latest terrace waterproofing projects completed for using ARDEX Australia WPM 1000.

At Mister Membrane, we don't just meet the minimum requirements we build in an extra level of protection. That's why our standard is 70mm laps, exceeding the manufacturer's recommended 40mm where possible.

This installation also included a 60mm downturn with a glue stick threshold detail, with the membrane bonded to the angle, heat welded and trimmed flush for a clean, durable finish. We completed a 200mm upturn, terminated with a reglet and CA20P sealant to ensure a secure waterproof seal.

Every balustrade post was carefully taped and patched before being sealed with CA20P, ensuring every pe*******on was treated with the same level of attention to detail as the rest of the system.

It's these details many of which are hidden once the project is complete that make the difference between a membrane that simply passes inspection and one that's built to perform for years to come.
