Today is R U OK? Day, a national reminder that you don't need to be an expert to support someone. Asking a workmate how they're really going, and sticking around for the answer, can change how their week goes.
Apprentices and trainees can be doing it tough for all sorts of reasons. Some are straight out of school, others have come to the trade later with a family behind them. Either way, they're often new to a site and unlikely to be the first to say something's wrong.
R U OK? has resources made specifically for apprentices and trainees, including how to start the conversation. To access them, visit: ruok.org.au/be-a-mate
