What if one of the most powerful lighting controls in a building… is already outside the window?

IES Edmonton invites you to Daylight Harvesting – Unlock the Power of the Sun, a technical Lunch & Learn exploring how we can make better use of natural daylight to create smarter, more responsive buildings.

Daylight harvesting is often misunderstood. Done properly, it goes far beyond simply dimming the lights near a window.

Lighting Beyond Function
✨IES Edmonton Specialty Lighting Award ✨

What an incredible night celebrating the IES Edmonton Awards at the beautiful Muttart Conservatory. Among so many inspiring projects, one that truly stood out was the Specialty Lighting Award, presented to SMP Engineering Group for their remarkable work on the Bertram Pedestrian Overpass.

Using color LED lighting, the team transformed a simple bridge into an experience one that connects people not only through design but through light itself. Their focus, precision, and creativity brought this project to life in a way that reflects both engineering excellence and artistic vision.

Projects like this remind us that lighting is not just about illumination it’s about identity, emotion, and connection.
Congratulations to SMP Engineering (Electrical) Group and everyone who continues to push the boundaries of what light can do.
