Through a partnership between Mitacs and PASSERELLE, the program offers fellows an opportunity to strengthen their capacity in patient-oriented research through hands-on projects carried out in collaboration with non-academic organizations.

In addition to their Mitacs fellowship, fellows benefit from personalized support from PASSERELLE, opportunities to develop their patient-oriented research skills and connect with colleagues across Canada. Additional financial support from PASSERELLE also enables them to participate in capacity-building activities in patient-oriented research.

September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to reflect on the history of the residential school system and its ongoing impacts on Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

On this day, we honor the Survivors, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities. It is a moment for us to learn about the lasting scars residential schools have left on generations of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

This day also coincides with Orange Shirt Day, an Indigenous-led initiative that highlights the message "Every Child Matters."

On September 30, let’s wear orange to show our support and solidarity as we continue the journey toward healing and reconciliation. 🧡

Le 30 septembre marque la Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation, un moment pour se souvenir de l’histoire tragique des pensionnats et de leurs impacts toujours présents sur les peuples autochtones au Canada.

En cette journée, nous rendons hommage aux survivant·e·s ainsi qu’aux enfants qui ne sont jamais rentré·e·s chez eux·elles, à leurs familles et à leurs communautés. C’est une occasion pour chacun·e d’en apprendre davantage sur les séquelles profondes laissées par les pensionnats sur plusieurs générations de Premières Nations, d’Inuit et de Métis.

Nous soulignons également la Journée du chandail orange, une initiative menée par les communautés autochtones, soulignant que « chaque enfant compte ».

Le 30 septembre, portons de l’orange pour démontrer notre soutien et notre solidarité dans la voie vers la guérison et la réconciliation. 🧡
