Most care roles ask you to follow the plan.
This one asks you to think.

I’m looking for a Client Assessor for Ashford and Folkestone, with progression to Deputy Manager and the responsibility to step in as Manager in Charge when needed.

This role is only suitable if you’re comfortable taking real ownership, working mostly in the community, and stepping up to lead when needed.

This is not a desk-based role.
Around 80% of it is out in the community
Meeting families
Assessing needs
Bringing clarity at that early stage when something doesn’t quite feel right

I already have someone excellent in this role on one side of the business.
Her branch is green, calm and compliant.
She’s proactive, disciplined, and she follows systems properly.

That’s the standard.

You’ll be:
Assessing new clients and creating thoughtful, person-centred care plans
Supporting families across Ashford and Folkestone
Working closely with the Registered Manager as their right hand
Helping us maintain strong CQC compliance and move closer to the Outstanding service we’re building

And when the Registered Manager is away, you step in as Manager in Charge

You’ll need:
A full UK driving licence
Your own car
Confidence working independently in the community

If this feels like the kind of responsibility you’ve been ready for…

Round the Kitchen Table Series

If you’ve ever heard yourself say, “Mum, I’ve just told you that,” and then instantly felt awful, you are not alone.

That moment usually isn’t the problem. It’s the sign.

For many families, what starts as a bit of forgetfulness slowly turns into one person carrying more and more of the thinking, reminding, worrying and organising. It happens so gradually that you don’t always realise how much has changed until you feel exhausted or hear the strain in your own voice.

Most families don’t ask for support too early. They usually wait longer than they needed to.

Not because they don’t care. Because they do.

Sometimes a little support at the right time protects the relationship and takes the pressure down before things reach crisis point.

If you’re starting to think about home care for a parent in Ashford, Folkestone or Hythe, message me. I’m always happy to help families think clearly and talk things through.

If you believe small kindnesses change lives, we need you.” 🧡

At Care in Kent, we know care isn’t just about tasks it’s about people. It’s making a cup of tea just right, offering a listening ear, or helping someone feel safe in their own home.

We’re looking for care workers in Folkestone who understand that dignity, compassion, and reliability aren’t extras, they’re everything.

Experience helps, but what matters most is your heart.
We’ll give you training, support, and a team that values you.

The Flowers Are Still in the Vase
And you still haven’t sat down

You picked them yesterday.
Bright sweet peas. Colours that made your heart lift, just for a moment.
You meant to sit with them. Breathe them in.
But the truth is they’ve been sitting on the counter ever since.
And you haven’t stopped long enough to really see them.

That’s what caring does. It fills your days so full that even the beautiful bits get left behind.

I see it all the time. Daughters running between work and worry, between guilt and getting-things-done.
Saying, “It’s fine,” when it’s anything but. Keeping it all going, quietly crumbling at the seams.

And I get it. Because that was me too.

I didn’t start Care in Kent with a business plan.
I started it because I lived that moment the one where you’re pouring from an empty cup, still smiling. I wanted to create a service that felt like sitting down next to those sweet peas. Gentle. Reassuring. Still.

Not a service list. Not a care brochure. Just one small shift: from shouldering everything alone…
to sharing the load with someone who truly shows up.

Imagine how it feels when the panic finally eases. When the visits are calm.
When the person who walks through the door doesn’t just tick a box they notice things. They stay five minutes longer if Mum’s sad. They message you if something’s off. They care as if she were their own.

That’s the kind of care I built this for.
That’s what we do.

You don’t have to do it alone.
It’s okay to ask for help.
It’s okay to want this to feel a little easier.

So if the flowers are still in the vase
and you haven’t stopped for days,
maybe this is your sign.

Not to fix everything. Just to soften it.

Let’s talk when you’re ready.
No pressure. Just care.

The Bit You Don’t Say Out Loud

You put the kettle on.
Not for the tea but because it gives you a moment to breathe.

You meant to call the GP… or maybe the district nurse but your mind’s gone foggy again.
There’s just too much.

You’re not lazy. Or ungrateful. Or dramatic. You’re just… tired.
The kind of tired that lives in your bones when you’ve been strong for too long.

No one talks about this part, do they?
The quiet overwhelm. The invisible weight.

You love your mum. You’re proud to care but that doesn’t make it easy.
And it doesn’t mean you don’t need support.

Here’s the truth we don’t say often enough:
You’re allowed to want help.
You’re allowed to say, “This is hard.”
You’re allowed to be a daughter not just a carer.

At Care in Kent, we understand the bit that lives under the surface.
The tenderness. The bravery. The burnout.

Our support isn’t about stepping in.
It’s about standing with you.
Side by side. Heart to heart.

So when you’re ready to let go just a little, we’ll be here.
No pressure. No judgement.
Just care that feels like a deep exhale.

Private home care in Ashford, Folkestone & Hythe.
Softly spoken. Strong where it matters.
You’re not alone.

“Danger of Death”: What This Warning Sign Got Me Thinking About Elder Care

You’ve seen signs like this before. Bold. Stark. A lightning bolt striking a figure down. “DANGER OF DEATH.”

I walked past it on a quiet lane in Kent last week, and something in me stopped. Not because of the electricity but because of what it symbolised.

Because sometimes, when you’re caring for an ageing parent alone, overstretched, and one missed call away from collapse it feels like there should be a sign on you too.

Danger of emotional burnout.
Danger of forgetting who you are.
Danger of everyone thinking you’re coping, because you’re so good at hiding it.

At Care in Kent, I speak to daughters across Ashford, Folkestone and Hythe who are walking emotional tightropes with no safety net. No one sees the mental load. The 5am Googling. The quiet crying in supermarket car parks. The way it feels like you’re being slowly electrocuted by love, guilt, and responsibility without any off switch.

And it’s not always loud.
Sometimes it’s the quiet that’s most dangerous.
Mum says she’s “fine.”
But you know she’s not drinking enough water.
Or taking her tablets properly.
Or locking the door at night.

You don’t need another warning sign.
You need a plan.

That’s why we created Platinum Care Planning Sessions a calm, confidential hour where we help frazzled daughters put structure around the chaos. No judgment. Just clarity. Because you can’t keep pouring from an empty kettle.

Imagine how it feels when someone finally says: “I’ve got this, go rest.”

You don’t have to do it alone.

The Sign That Stops You in Your Tracks: What “Elderly People” Really Means When It’s Your Mum

“She Says She’s Fine. You Know That Means She Isn’t.”

You see it on a quiet road in Kent.
A little red triangle, a pair of bent figures, and two words that should be neutral but if you’re caring for a parent, they land like a punch:
Elderly People.

Not just a sign.
A mirror.

Because one day she was unstoppable quick-witted, beautifully stubborn, marching around Sainsbury’s with her trolley and her opinions. And now?
She’s the sign.

It’s not that she’s frail every day.
It’s that you notice the little things now.
The way she grips the bannister. How she pretends not to be confused by the TV remote. The subtle pause before she says, “I’m fine, honestly.”

But you know.

And so that sign? It doesn’t warn others anymore.
It warns you.

Because you’re the one trying to do it all.
Holding down work. Holding up your family. Holding back the tears.
And it’s not heroic, it’s exhausting.

At Care in Kent, I speak to daughters every week who live in this tension.
The guilt. The guessing. The 3am Googling.
“Is this memory loss?”
“Should I step in yet?”
“What if I wait too long?”

Imagine how it feels when someone finally says yes to helping you.
Not judging. Not rushing.
Just saying: You don’t have to do this alone.

That’s what our Platinum Home Care Planning sessions are for.
A calm, private space where we gently help you see the signs, trust your instincts, and map out a care plan that supports you and your mum emotionally, practically, lovingly.

Because when you’re the one doing the caring, you deserve care too.

The Day the Phone Didn’t Ring… and Why That Terrified You Most

No missed call. No 6am “Mum needs you.” Just silence.
And somehow, that felt worse.

Because when you’re the one holding everything together, quiet isn’t peace it’s suspense.
And when Mum says “I didn’t want to bother you”?
She’s not protecting you.
She’s hiding her own fear.

At Care in Kent, we help frazzled daughters across Ashford, Folkestone and Hythe spot the danger before it becomes a crisis.

Imagine how it feels when you catch the quiet warning signs early.
You don’t have to do it alone.
