This week we brought the Dunkley's team together for our latest quarterly staff briefing - a chance to reflect on the last few months, share some of the successes across the business and, most importantly, celebrate the people behind them.

There was plenty to be proud of, with a special mention going to Budari and Sarah who achieved ultimate qualification following their latest exam passes. A brilliant achievement for them both and testament to all the hard work they’ve put in alongside their day-to-day roles.

It’s always great to get everyone together, recognise what we’ve achieved as a team and look ahead to what’s coming next 🙌

Many businesses only look closely at their figures when the year-end accounts are prepared. By then, opportunities may have been missed and problems can be harder to address.

Management accounts give you regular insight into how your business is performing throughout the year. They can help you understand profitability, monitor trends, manage cash flow and make decisions based on up-to-date information rather than waiting until year end.

Dunkley’s Business Services Team provides timely financial information and support with ongoing tax and business planning.

If you’d like to understand how management accounts could support your business, our Business Services Team would be happy to talk you through the options - Call 01454 619900 and ask for the Business Services Team.

More and more people are turning to AI for accounting and financial advice. While AI can be useful for general information, it isn’t always right, and it doesn’t know the full details of your business or personal circumstances.

Tax rules, accounting standards and financial regulations change regularly, and the correct answer often depends on the specific situation.

That’s where a real accountant makes the difference. At Dunkley’s, we’re always happy to answer your questions and provide advice based on the latest legislation, current guidance and many years of practical experience working with businesses and individuals.

If you’re unsure about a tax, accounting or business finance question, please ask. We’re here to help.

Many businesses are taking a more flexible approach to recruitment, with temporary hiring on the rise as employers respond to changing costs and economic uncertainty.

For some, temporary staff can provide the flexibility to manage workloads, support seasonal demand or bridge skills gaps while longer-term plans take shape.

Whether you're recruiting your first employee or growing an established team, it's important to understand the financial implications of every hiring decision, from payroll and pensions to cash flow and budgeting.

At Dunkley's, we help businesses make informed decisions that support both their people and their long-term growth.

If you're thinking about your next hire, we'd be happy to help you plan ahead.

September often feels like a second New Year for businesses.

The holidays are over, routines return, and many business owners use this time to review where the business is heading before the final quarter begins.

Are your finances where you expected them to be? Are you getting proactive advice and support throughout the year? And is your current accountant still the right fit for your business?

A September reset can be the perfect opportunity to review performance, update plans and make changes that will support growth for the months ahead.

If you’ve been thinking about a fresh approach to your business finances, now is a great time to start the conversation.

Choosing an accountant isn't just about the numbers, it's about finding a team that understands your business and is there to support you as it grows.

We're delighted to share this feedback from one of Joe's clients. At Dunkley's, we pride ourselves on building long-term relationships with our clients, offering proactive advice and becoming a trusted part of their wider team.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, it means a great deal to us.

Your accountant should do more than prepare your year-end figures.

At Dunkley’s, our clients have access to a wide range of expertise, proactive tax advice and services designed to protect and support their businesses.

One example is our Tax Investigation Insurance. For a relatively small annual cost, it can cover our professional fees if HMRC opens an enquiry or investigation – fees which could otherwise run into thousands of pounds.

It’s all part of looking beyond the immediate cost and considering the value, advice and protection you’re getting in return.

If you’re reviewing your business costs, we’re always happy to talk about what’s included in the service you receive from Dunkley’s.

E-invoicing may not become mandatory until April 2029, but now is the perfect time to start preparing.

Many businesses think they're already e-invoicing because they email PDF invoices, but true e-invoicing is much more than that. It will affect everything from your accounting software and VAT records to customer data and payment processes.

In our latest blog, we explain:

- What e-invoicing actually is
- Why businesses should start planning now
- The practical steps you can take before the changes arrive
- How getting prepared could improve efficiency and even help cash flow

If you'd like advice on preparing your business for e-invoicing or reviewing your current accounting processes, the team at Dunkley's is here to help.

Another social event at Dunkley’s! Last year’s boat trip was such a success that the Next Gen social team decided to do it all over again.

On Friday 14 August, the team headed out from Mud Dock Landing for our annual boat trip around Bristol. We were lucky with the weather, enjoyed pizzas, and had a brilliant time catching up with colleagues and friends.

The trip finished with a few drinks at the Pump House before everyone headed home.

A big thank you to our Next Gen social team for organising another great evening.

Nobody likes an unexpected bill, particularly when there are already plenty of other business costs to manage.

If you’re a Dunkley’s client, setting up a regular Direct Debit or standing order can help you spread the cost of your accountancy fees throughout the year, rather than dealing with a larger payment when your bill arrives.

It’s a simple way to make budgeting easier, keep your monthly outgoings more predictable and avoid having to arrange a payment plan later.

If you’d like to set up regular payments with us, just speak to the Dunkley’s team and we’ll be happy to help.
