✨New Case Study - SRS, Vale of Glamorgan✨

Each project comes with its own niche requirements, the stranger the better! We love getting into the nitty gritty of understanding how and why we can provide specific solutions for clients. The Shared Resource Service (SRS) required some lab spaces with level brick pillars and a room where temperature, vibrations and light could be controlled to an exact degree, for sensitive measuring equipment. We called on the expert knowledge of our site manager, Jonathan Rossiter and HVAC contractor to work out the best solutions. 🧱🔬⚖

Also included within the scheme was a wet lab, with low Belfast sink and dedicated water boiler. Supporting spaces include a new meeting room with glazed partition, desking, height adjustable desks, a breakout area and hot-desk touch-down point.

The new environment brings the SRS team to a fresh and functional new workspace, a big improvement from their dated and cluttered current space. CBOF Group have been supporting the Vale of Glamorgan Council with a larger scheme of work; rationalising and improving office spaces with budget as a main focus.

Scope of works included:
✅ Loose furniture including static desking, height adjustable desking, meeting room furniture and breakout seating.
✅ New M&E to improve functionality.
✅ Decoration & Flooring works.
✅ New partitioning.
✅ Coordination of Fire Alarm works.
✅ Relocation of existing office materials to the new office.

The project was designed and delivered by the CBOF team, with Cathryn Campbell taking the lead on design and specification - coordinating with the client’s in-house architect and project team. The on-site project was managed by our site manager Jonathan Rossiter, coordinating trades and install dates to ensure the project was delivered efficiently. Robert Rossiter acted as client liaison and consultant overseeing the project as a whole.

Feedback from the team and other users of the building was resoundingly positive - fresh decoration, new flooring, new furniture and a lack of clutter had vastly improved the space 😊

🏢 Next Steps at The Vale of Glamorgan Dock Offices

Following several months on site at the historic Grade II-listed ‘Dock Offices’ in Barry on behalf of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, our in-house team is now preparing to complete the relocation works over the next two weeks👏
This has been an amazing & fascinating place to work throughout our time on site 😊

Robert Rossiter & Cathryn Campbell have been coordinating the project with the client, working across the various parts of the building with a total floor area of 36,704 sq ft.
The project has already seen significant progress, including:
🔹 Clearance of the basement and second-floor workspaces
🔹 Relocation of staff to the Civic Offices
🔹 Careful recycling and reuse of furniture no longer required
🔹 All works delivered by CBOF Group’s in-house team of designers, planning experts, fitters and project managers

Next steps:
🔹 Clearance of furniture from the ground and first floors
🔹 Relocation of the remaining staff to the Civic Offices
🔹 Completion of the final phase of works within a two-week programme managed by CBOF Group’s experienced team

We look forward to successfully completing the project and supporting the Council through the final stages of this relocation ✅

✨New Case Study - Bwyd Blasus, Llandough Hospital✨

🍽 Bwyd Blasus is now available at the newly refurbished Restaurant at Llandough Hospital! 🍽

CBOF group has been working closely with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to deliver refurbishment projects that enhance facilities for hospital staff, patients & visitors across multiple sites. Recent projects include the redevelopment of Y Gegin and Bwyd Blasus at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Through detailed consultations and comprehensive furniture analysis, we developed a scheme that combined durability, quality and value while remaining within budget.
The new Bwyd Blasus restaurants feature the Kin chair range from Allermuir, incorporating a mix of colours and armchair options. This approach ensures that users who require additional support can select seating with arms, while the varied colour palette helps create distinct zones within the space. Even as chairs are moved by staff, patients, or during cleaning, the overall aesthetic remains cohesive and coordinated.
A range of table sizes and configurations has been installed to accommodate individuals, families and larger groups visiting the hospital. The robust Forty Seven table bases provide exceptional stability, making them particularly suitable for less mobile users and helping to create a safe, accessible and welcoming environment for all.

✅ Creation of café & breakout spaces
✅ Quality & durable furniture specification
✅ Flexibility & accessibility considerations
✅ Installation & project management by our in-house team

🏢 ‘UpBranding at BSC’ 🏢

We were pleased to return to the BSC Building, Barry, following our recent work on neighbouring Vale of Glamorgan Council sites in Barry & Penarth.
In partnership with Signs Express Ltd | Grant Zehetmayr, we delivered an updated signage and wayfinding package, combining new installations with enhancements to existing elements. The refreshed graphics bring the building in line with the council’s wider branding, creating a modern & consistent identity across the estate.

The scope included;

💚🌴🌲😎 Biophilia in the city 💚🌴🌲😎

Our teams had several client & site meetings yesterday in Cardiff, and the city’s reputation as a green one was in full bloom ☀️
We took a moment to take in the fantastic greenery and biophilia the city centre has to offer; from tree-lined streets to vibrant public spaces that make Cardiff such a refreshing place to work & visit.

“Biophilia is the innate human tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. Derived from Greek, it translates literally as “love of life”. The concept suggests our affinity for the natural world is deeply rooted in our biology and evolutionary heritage.”

✳️✳️ UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH WALES STUDENT MENTORING 2026 ✳️✳️

Last week we finalised our mentoring & collaborative work with the University of South Wales Prifysgol De Cymru 2026 Interior Design ‘2nd year Degree students’ 😊

After an initial ‘design development’ workshop & visit to the Atrium building, Cardiff, it was great to the see the projects at completion stage 👏👏👏👏

A busy morning started with a showroom tour, a talk focusing on CBOF’s work & experiences, offers & our research into design matters plus discussions around our furniture reuse service & ‘Sustain’ engagement. Following this we jumped into the individual presentations and as always some nibbles help to keep up the energy 😊🍪☕🍓🍇

Jon Foster & Emily Hart from CBOF’s design team attended the session with the group and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the final presentations & ideas shared again this year 👏👏

The building choice for the second year running was the ‘Dock Offices’ in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan Council – a building CBOF are very familiar with as we have been working there for several months since last year’s student visit.........a fantastic range of ideas presented to demonstrate the potential future uses of the building 👏

Thanks again / diolch yn fawr eto to all of the students for coming to see us and to the Uni team for this year’s collaboration...
Really great to meet the next generation of designers & creatives and see the talent & ideas coming through. Hopefully we’ll catch up with everyone again at the Uni end of year on June 5th📅

🎨 Finishes Workshop Wednesday 🎨

It’s been a busy and productive week of design development, client collaboration and finalising colour schemes across a number of projects.

On Monday, we were on site in Cardiff city centre working closely with the client team to refine and agree the final colour palette for an exciting upcoming project. Seeing the materials, finishes, and tones come together within the space is always a valuable part of the process and helps ensure every detail feels considered & cohesive...... ✅

Yesterday our team Jon Saunders, Emily Hart & Jon Foster hosted another collaborative day & client workshop for a project kicking off in the coming months.
It’s great to see both schemes progressing well and gaining momentum as they move towards the next stages...much more to follow 😊

Exciting progress on a number of new colour schemes currently in development!

Our team Sharon Clement, Emily Hart and Jon Foster - were on site today delivering a collaborative Finishes & Colour Scheme Workshop with our client 😊
These sessions are a great opportunity to explore ideas, refine palettes and ensure the final fit-out & furniture scheme truly reflects the client’s brand and vision.

We’re looking forward to bringing the concept to life over the coming weeks.......watch this space 👀

♻️ ‘Sustain’ in action ♻️

Great momentum this morning as our partnership with ‘Sustain’ and The Senator Group continues. A number of bags have already been filled & will now be returned to Sustain’s plant, where the materials will be recycled and repurposed for reuse, helping to reduce waste and support a more circular approach to sustainability ✅ 🌍

Fantastic to see collaboration turning positive environmental action into real results.
