Yard/Maintenance Person

Alan Tuer Ltd is a well-established family-run business based in Carlisle, specialising in plant hire with a fleet of over 300 machines, including excavators, dumpers, rollers and telehandlers. We also supply and service Ifor Williams trailers.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a hardworking, reliable and enthusiastic Yard/Maintenance Person to join our team.
Main Duties
•Fuel and prepare plant machinery ready for hire.
•Deliver and collect plant machinery and trailers.
•Wash and clean machinery to a high standard.
•Carry out pre-hire inspections and basic checks.
•Assist with loading and unloading equipment.
•Assist with unloading New Trailer Deliveries
•Help with Pre Delivery Inspection of Trailers
•General yard maintenance
•Help ensure the yard is organised, tidy and operates efficiently.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience operating plant machinery such as excavators, dumpers, rollers or telehandlers.
Hold a full UK driving licence.
Be confident driving and towing trailers.
Be reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
Take pride in their work and have good attention to detail.
Ideally available to work 7am - 6pm Mon-Fri with alternate Saturdays
While not essential, experience servicing, maintaining and carrying out repairs to plant machinery would be a significant advantage and is something we’d like the successful candidate to develop within the role.
