Skyler House, completed this year.
Thanks to for featuring the project.
“In East London’s Hackney, a modest 1950s ground-floor flat has quietly been reborn as a residence of light, openness and architectural generosity. Redesigned by London-based architecture firm , the ground-floor home, Skyler House, dismantles rigid post-war spatial logic to reveal something more expansive, poetic and alive.
Walls that once draped the plan in gloom are removed. Accessways are widened; new windows and garden-facing doors invite air and life inside. A hatch between kitchen and workspace collapses boundaries between function and domestic ritual, while a custom-built pull-down bed and built-in fireplace turn compactness into clever versatility.
The London flat becomes a stage for subtle design interventions aimed at delight and discovery: handcrafted furniture dyed by its occupants, plywood surfaces enlivened by colour, corners turned into everything from cosy reading benches to pet-friendly thresholds”.
