How do we tackle youth unemployment and support our most vulnerable young adults? By tearing down the barriers to success.

Through the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority funded Youth Trailblazer programme, the Cambridgeshire County Council’s Youth Impact Programmes Team is providing targeted, one-to-one support to 18 to 21-year-olds. We are working hard to reduce the number of young adults who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET).

But career planning doesn't start with a CV, it starts with foundational life skills. This initiative gives young people the time and space to build confidence, establish daily routines, and experience the outdoors through teamwork exercises at places like Grafham Water.

The results? Real jobs, renewed confidence, and brighter futures.

"I wish people would come and watch us for a week and just see what it looks like," says one of our youth workers. "It'd be phenomenal."

Launched as part of the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer and hosted by the Peterborough United Foundation, the Youth Hub was designed to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for those aged 16–24.

Hear from Peterborough Youth Hub Manager Dean about the amazing work the hub is doing for NEET young people and the local community.

“We’ve created a space where young people can express themselves without feeling like they’re in a regimented system. It’s about more than theory; it’s about mentoring and professional connections that lead to real-life success.”
