🐝 Physical Intervention & Ligature Awareness Training – Liverpool 🐝

A fantastic day yesterday delivering Physical Intervention and Ligature Awareness Training in Liverpool for an amazing team dedicated to supporting young people in care.
💛

It was great to work with such a committed group of professionals who play such an important role in keeping young people safe, supported and cared for.

The training focused on developing knowledge, building confidence and practising essential skills, including:
✅ Ligature awareness and recognising potential risks
✅ De-escalation and preventative strategies
✅ Safe and appropriate physical intervention techniques
✅ Breakaway skills and personal safety
✅ Promoting safety, dignity and positive outcomes for young people

A huge well done to everyone involved for their enthusiasm, engagement and willingness to learn. The work you do makes a real difference to the lives of the young people you support! 👏

🐝 PLANNED(Risk Assessed) OR UNPLANNED(Emergency) – ARE YOU PREPARED FOR BOTH?

🚨Today I've been in Liverpool delivering Ligature Awareness and Physical Intervention Training, focusing on a really important aspect of workplace safety – how we respond when things dont go to plan!

During the course, we explored TWO very different types of incidents:
🟡 1️⃣ PLANNED INCIDENTS - Situations where we have a risk assessment in place, time to prepare, follow established procedures, allocate roles and ensure everyone understands their responsibilities.
⚫ 2️⃣ UNPLANNED EMERGENCY INCIDENTS - Situations/Incidents that happen without warning! No time to plan, no opportunity for a team briefing and potentially no procedure covering the exact circumstances were facing.

💭 The BIG question is – how do we prepare staff for something they havent planned for?

Thats where effective training, dynamic risk assessments, situational awareness, sound decision-making and confidence become absolutely essential.

Its not just about teaching staff physical techniques. Its about developing their ability to THINK, ASSESS, COMMUNICATE and RESPOND safely under pressure.

At Bee Safe Training, we focus on preparing staff for BOTH situations, ensuring they understand that physical intervention is always a last resort, with safety, necessity and proportionality at the heart of every decision.🐝

Having a procedure is one thing – knowing how to respond when the unexpected happens is another!

Heres a question for your organisation: Are your staff trained to follow a plan, or are they also trained to respond when there isnt one?

🐝 Physical Intervention & Ligature Awareness Training – Doncaster 🐝

Another fantastic day delivering Physical Intervention and Ligature Awareness training in Doncaster today! 💛🖤

The course focused on developing knowledge, confidence and practical skills to help staff recognise potential risks, respond appropriately and support the safety and wellbeing of the people in their care.
Key areas included:
✅ Ligature Awareness – recognising risks, understanding warning signs and knowing how to respond.
✅ De-escalation – using effective communication to reduce tension and prevent situations from escalating. ✅ Physical Intervention – developing safe, appropriate and proportionate techniques to manage challenging situations.
✅ Staff Safety & Wellbeing – building confidence in responding to challenging situations while maintaining dignity and respect.

🚔👮‍♂️ FROM BEING A STUDENT TO INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION! 👮‍♀️🐝

On Friday I had the pleasure of delivering two half-day "Insight into Public Uniformed Services" training sessions at Selby College – and this is one of those courses that means a lot to me!

🎓 Why is this training so important to me?

When I left school, I attended a Uniformed Services course at college myself. Unfortunately, I came away feeling a little underwhelmed. I wanted more practical experience, more real-life insight and a better understanding of what it actually takes to become a Police or Prison Officer.

Fast forward a few years (quite a few! 😂), a career in the Prison Service and the launch of Bee Safe Training, and I made it one of my goals to offer the next generation something I wish I'd experienced when I was their age.

💪 REAL TRAINING. REAL TECHNIQUES. REAL EXPERIENCE.

My Insight into Public Uniformed Services sessions are designed to give students a hands-on introduction to the tactics, techniques and decision-making skills used within the Police and Prison Services.

It's about bringing the classroom to life, building confidence, challenging students and giving them a genuine insight into the realities of these demanding careers.

🐝 For me, it's about more than just delivering a training course.

There's a real sense of pride in being able to use my own experiences to inspire, educate and hopefully help shape the next generation of Police and Prison Officers.

A massive thank you to Selby College for the opportunity and to all the students for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout both sessions! 👏

Who knows... some of today's students could be tomorrow's frontline professionals! 🚔💪

Another great day delivering bespoke Customer Management training in Sheffield today!

🚨 INSIGHT INTO PUBLIC SERVICES – BARNSLEY COLLEGE 🚨

Another fantastic couple of half-day sessions delivered at Barnsley College, giving students a practical insight into the exciting world of Public and Uniformed Services! 👮‍♂️

👮‍♀️The sessions are designed to be engaging, practical and realistic, giving students the opportunity to explore some of the skills and knowledge required when working within public service roles.

Students had the opportunity to explore and develop their understanding of:
🔹 Decision-making and professional judgement
🔹 Handcuffing techniques
🔹 Use of force techniques
🔹 Practical use of techniques
🔹 Teamwork and professional standards
🔹 The realities and responsibilities of working within Public and Uniformed Services

Its fantastic to see students getting involved in practical activities and developing an understanding of the skills required for careers within the Police, Prison Service, Armed Forces and other public service roles.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading over to Smile 9 in Sheffield to deliver a bespoke Dentist Basic Life Support (BLS) course — and it was fantastic to welcome them to the Bee Safe Training family! 🐝

It was great working with the team and putting their emergency skills into practice, covering key areas including:

Today we were pleased to deliver a Dentist Basic Life Support (BLS) training course for the fantastic team at Clifton Dental and Implant Practice in York.

🥋 ANOTHER AWESOME DAY OF CPD! 🥋

Yesterday I was back at Lilleshall for my annual Self Defence Instructor Course with NFPS — and what a day! 🔥

There’s something special about getting together with fellow professionals who share the same passion for Self Defence, personal safety and quality training.

For me, CPD isn’t just about ticking a box — it’s about continuing to learn, challenging yourself, refining your skills and bringing new ideas back to the people you train.

And when you get the opportunity to be trained by absolute legends in the industry, surrounded by experienced instructors and professionals, you know you’re in the right place! 👊

A massive thank you to Alex Hunter, Robert Landells, Ginge Johnson and everyone involved for another fantastic day of learning, training, sharing knowledge and having a good laugh along the way.
