Budget day: what it means for energy installers
What didn't get announced
No cut to the ÂŁ7,500 heat pump grant. Despite the reports of cuts to help fund defence, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme is still open.
No change to the VAT threshold, corporation tax or employer NI.
No extension, yet, to 0% VAT on heat pumps, solar and batteries. It's still due to end on 31 March 2027.
What did get announced
0% VAT on household electricity now runs to July 2027.
Gas standing charges will be scrapped from 2027, with the cost moved onto the unit rate.
A ÂŁ100 energy payment this winter for homes in council tax bands A to D.
The new Warm Homes Loan, launched this week: low and no-interest loans of up to ÂŁ20,000 for a heat pump and ÂŁ15,000 for solar or a battery, on top of the grant. MCS installers only.
Fuel duty frozen, and the 5p cut kept, until July 2027.
National Living Wage up to ÂŁ13.20 an hour from 1 April 2027, so it's worth reviewing your prices and service plans before then.
One caveat
This is based on today's announcements. The full Budget documents, or the energy department's own changes, could still bring more, and we'll update you if anything shifts.
