Grief and Loss Group 🫂🌊

If you are struggling with a bereavement or are anticipating a loss soon, you might find it helpful to come along to our grief and loss support group. These sessions are run by Caroline from Bluespace who is a professional grief counsellor. Caroline with guide the group through different aspects of grief and how to cope.

These sessions are a space to share how you are feeling with people who are going through something similar to you, or just a chance to listen. There are also going to be opportunities to have a 1-1 session with Caroline where support can be tailored for you. 🌊

Wellbeing Groups at SCC 🧘🏻‍♀️🧠💜

We run three regular wellbeing groups, which are open to all carers. Our Monthly Wellbeing Group runs wholesome activities such as origami workshops and animal experiences🌸🦉

In our Crafty Coffee Morning, you can craft alongside other carers and take some time out for yourself, all skill levels and types of craft are welcome!🧶☕

Our newly launched Grief and Loss Group, facilitated by Caroline from Bluespace, allows you to connect with others who are grieving🫂🫶🏼

If you would like more information on any of these groups, or other activities provided by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team, please email [email protected]

I am supporting Angeline, a trainee counselling psychologist at UWE, share information about a research study she is conducting, exploring how people experienced the death of a close family member during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how the restrictions at the time may have shaped their grieving process.

The study hopes to understand:

* What felt supportive
* What felt difficult
* How people have made sense of their loss over time

If you can relate to this experience and would be willing to take part, and/or want more information, please contact Angeline on [email protected] or use the QR code below….and adaptations can be offered if you are unsure or unable to use email or Teams.

Thank you for your consideration 💙

💙 COME AND JOIN ME THIS FRIDAY 💙

Grief (including Anticipatory Grief) can be a very isolating experience……being part of a peer to peer support group can become the bridge from isolation to connection.

Our aim with the group is to cultivate a supportive environment that enables healing through shared experiences and collective understanding, creating a pathway for emotional growth.

BE ACTIVE.......the final one of the five ways to wellbeing, as we come to the end of Mental Health Awareness Week. Although the model I have shared can help you support your mental health every day of the year.

Being active can be as simple as moving your body - you don't have to join a gym or a class or anything formal, it can be daily walks, cycling along the prom or even housework! Physical activity can be fun, good for your physical and mental health, social and just makes you feel good.

Especially if you can find something you enjoy, you will stick with it! I love being in the water so swimming is top of my list, as well as daily walks, and this year I decided to join a new run club for women .runs.this.city - I saw it advertised and went for it. It's for every pace and is inclusive through and through, one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. I may not be the fastest or have the best technique but I love it!

Find what you enjoy 💙

CONNECT......one of the five ways to wellbeing, possibly the most significant one.

My "sea sisters" 💙

We meet every week, same day, same time and place.....no wetsuits, our bodies braving the year round temperatures, all looking out for each other, building our connection and bond every time we dip together. A very special connection......one of the cornerstones of my life.

Today happened to coincide with the paddle out organised by to call for the end of sewage pollution 🌊💩

KEEP LEARNING......one of the five ways to wellbeing.

It doesn't have to be anything formal, it can be as simple as learning a new recipe or physical activity. Keeps your brain active, can be fun, sometimes social and may even open up new opportunities in life.

I was all booked to attend The Mental Health & Wellbeing Show 2026 today in Cardiff but life responsibilities had other ideas and I was unable to attend. I'd booked on to explore new ideas, find out more of what's out there, make connections and share the work | do and had planned to attend a seminar "Walking with Grief" hosted by Paul Fears. Apparently the keynote speech with Phil Steele was well worth a listen!

I unintentionally fell into my original "line of work" - HR - but with support I was able to take the leap and retrain as a Counsellor in midlife.....finally able to play to my strengths, and in line with my values, which inevitably leads to more satisfaction and enjoyment in what you are doing. I feel very lucky that it led to the creation of Bluespace 💙
