This week, our CEO Sophie had the opportunity to enjoy a round of golf in support of Taylor-Made Dreams at their Tee Off event!

Despite the slightly wet weather, it was a fantastic day, with 15 teams taking on 18 holes and even having the chance to Beat the Pro – Jack from Dale Hill Hotel & Golf Club.

Supporting Taylor-Made Dreams is incredibly important to us at Forrest Group, so it was great for Sophie to be there, get involved and help support the fantastic work they do for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

A huge thank you to Barrie Williams for organising the event and for inviting us to be part of it.

A brilliant day for a very worthy cause – even if the weather wasn't quite on our side!

September often feels like the start of a new business term.

With summer holidays coming to an end and teams returning to their usual routines, it is a useful opportunity to review your people priorities for the final few months of the year.

Are there outstanding performance conversations? Have employees booked their remaining annual leave? Are policies and employment documents still up to date?

Forrest HR provides flexible HR support for SMEs, from everyday employee matters through to more complex people challenges.

A little HR housekeeping now can make the final quarter much easier to manage.

This International Day of Charity, we’re proud to shine a light on Taylor-Made Dreams and the incredible work they do supporting children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Earlier this week, our CEO Sophie joined Suzi, founder of Taylor-Made Dreams, as she took on a very personal challenge and shaved her head to raise funds for the charity — with Sophie even helping with the shave!

Suzi’s challenge forms part of 30 Days for Tay, a campaign running throughout September with the aim of raising £30,000 to mark what would have been her son Taylor’s 30th year.

She chose to shave her head on 2 September, the anniversary of Taylor’s passing, saying: “He’d laugh at me, his mum, for daring to do it!”

We’re incredibly proud to continue supporting Taylor-Made Dreams and Suzi as they work towards their £30,000 target.

If you would like to support 30 Days for Tay and help them reach their goal, you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/suzi4tay?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

August is National Wellness Month — an opportunity to consider how your workplace supports the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of your people.

Employee wellbeing is not simply an HR initiative. It can influence engagement, productivity, absence and retention across your business.

The most effective wellbeing strategies are practical, relevant and supported by managers. That could mean reviewing workloads, encouraging open conversations or ensuring employees know where to access support.

Health & Safety breaches can have devastating consequences. A recent HSE case saw a company fined £400,000 after a maintenance worker was fatally injured while attempting to repair an industrial overhead door.

The investigation found that the employee had not received suitable training to carry out high-risk repair work. The company had also failed to adequately maintain the electrically operated sectional overhead doors at the site, despite two previous incidents involving failing doors.

This tragic case is a stark reminder that Health & Safety is not just a legal obligation — it is essential to protecting people.

At Forrest Group, we support organisations with practical Health & Safety advice, audits and risk assessments to help identify gaps, reduce risk and create safer workplaces.

If your business needs Health & Safety support, please get in touch with our team.
