THE BATTLE OF LAW IS ON!

We’re delighted to announce that not one, but TWO teams from LAW are taking part in the Jersey Employment Trust’s JET Jaunt!

That can only mean one thing…

🏆 TEAM SOLE SISTERS VS TEAM PESTANA 🏆

Who will raise the most?
Who will cross the finish line first?
And most importantly, who will have the best excuses when their legs stop working?

It’s director vs director this year, and they’re both determined to win.

Both teams are getting behind a fantastic local cause, raising money to support the brilliant work of the Jersey Employment Trust.

So, whether you’re backing the Sole Sisters Kelly & Heidi, Lorna & Jamie from Team Pestana, or simply want to hedge your bets… get donating! Whatever you do, every penny raised will help support the fantastic work of the Jersey Employment Trust.

Employee absence can be difficult to manage.

Too little intervention can leave managers struggling with repeated absence. Too much, too soon can create unnecessary tension and risk.

So where is the right balance?

The Right Advice On: Managing Absence gives managers and HR professionals a practical introduction to handling absence fairly, consistently, and with greater confidence.

We’ll explore the different types of absence, common risks, monitoring approaches, and what good practice looks like in a Guernsey workplace.

🎨🌱 Investing in our people, our culture, and our leadership legacy

A few weeks ago, the LAW team stepped away from the day-to-day to spend an afternoon focusing on something just as important as the work we do for our clients – our people.

We began with one of our Beyond the Advice: Leadership Legacy sessions, exploring the impact we have on those around us, the environments we create, and the legacy we leave through our everyday behaviours. As we often discuss in our Leadership Legacy programme, culture is shaped by the moments that matter, and psychological safety, honest conversations, and genuine connection all play a role in building stronger teams.

The afternoon then took a wonderfully creative turn as we headed to a local art studio for a team-building challenge unlike any other. Armed with nothing more than a canvas, acrylic paints, and our hands and feet, we were tasked with creating artwork together. No paintbrushes. No easels. No artistic shortcuts. Just collaboration, trust, laughter, and a willingness to step outside our comfort zones.

The result? A kinder, more aligned and collaborative team, plus a positive uplift in our office environment, and plenty of colourful memories!

To round off the day, we enjoyed a delicious meal together at Little Italy, the perfect ending to a fantastic afternoon.

And rather than taking our creations home, our Directors chose to have our masterpieces displayed throughout the office. They now serve as a daily reminder of the importance of investing in our people, nurturing wellbeing, and creating opportunities for connection and growth.

Because leadership isn't just developed in training rooms. It's built through shared experiences, meaningful conversations, and the cultures we create together.

Last month, we launched the first session of Beyond the Advice and spent the day exploring a question every leader should ask themselves:

Do the people around me feel safe enough to tell me the truth?

Throughout the session, leaders worked through real workplace scenarios, challenged their own communication habits, and reflected on how assumptions quietly shape trust within teams.

One of the day’s attendees shared:

“The training challenged me to reflect on my own communication style and the barriers that the pressures of being a leader can place on yourself. I’ve learned that being curious rather than making assumptions can build trust and strengthen relationships, both at work and outside of it.”

These are exactly the kinds of conversations leadership development should create.

Honest reflection.
Real challenge.
Practical change.

And we’re only just getting started.
Next, we’re shifting our focus to something every leader faces:

Pressure.

We’ve still got a few tickets left for session 2:

What a gloriously sunny afternoon we enjoyed on Friday at the Jersey Chamber of Commerce Summer Lunch, with thankfully cooler weather than Thursday ☀️

It was so great to see so many familiar faces and enjoy some great food and conversation in the beautiful grounds of Government House.

Instead of giving gifts to our lovely guests, we once again opted to make a donation on their behalf to a charity of their choice.

Thank you, Candice, Gabby, Jill, James, and Jonathan, for joining us – we hope you had as wonderful a day as we did! And thank you for allowing us to support the great work that Jersey Hospice Care, Headway Jersey, Jersey Cheshire Home, and Beresford Street Kitchen do.

What a set-up for our very first Beyond the Advice session today!

Heidi and Michaela have been working incredibly hard to create this immersive leadership legacy series and we can’t wait for our first attendees to experience it.

By keeping each session small, this group of leaders will have the chance to really dive deep and start building their leadership legacy.

Want to be in the room for the next session? Check out our Eventbrite for more details 👇🏼

What does leadership legacy mean to you?

To Heidi, it's about more than just a highlight reel at the end of a career – it's something that's built through every choice along the way.

Read the full article here 👉

Leadership legacy isn’t defined at the end of our careers. It’s built in real time, in the moments that test us and those we often choose to avoid. For me, this has become more personal than professional. Loss has a way of stripping away the noise and concentrating your attention on what truly m...

Your leadership legacy exists already.

The question is: What are people saying when you’re not in the room?

💬 Do they feel trusted?
💬 Do they feel heard?
💬 Do they feel able to challenge?
💬 Do they feel supported?

Join us for an honest conversation about leadership impact on 25 June.
