Imagine designing the power system for a plane that runs on sunshine and stays in the air for months at a time.

We’re hiring a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our Christchurch team and make it happen. The aircraft will help with maritime surveillance, environmental monitoring, and disaster response.

Know a power electronics whiz who’s bored of designing the same old stuff? Send this their way.

How many IT jobs let you say "I help build a plane that flies at 60,000 ft for months"?

Kea Aerospace is hiring an IT Systems Administrator in Christchurch! You'll look after the servers, network and systems our engineers rely on while we build a solar-powered aircraft for the stratosphere. If you've got 5+ years in hands-on IT and love being the go-to person, this one's for you.

Every harness you build has to survive months in the stratosphere, with no way to reach it.

That's the standard on the Kea Atmos Mk2, and we're looking for a hands-on Avionics Technician in Christchurch to work to it. Building high-reliability harnesses, debugging PCBs, and turning engineering designs into hardware that actually flies.

If a perfectly crimped connector gives you a quiet thrill, we should talk.

How do you design an airframe that holds together for months at a time, 20km up in the stratosphere?

That's one of the toughest challenges on the Kea Atmos, and it's yours to solve.

A senior role in Christchurch for the specialist who wants to take a clean-sheet airframe from concept to flight, working alongside engineers across disciplines.

Full details and how to apply below.

Kea is landing at the New Zealand Aerospace Summit 2026!

True to our name, we're a little curious by nature - so we're planning something for our exhibit this year that's well worth the trip to see up close. Not ready to spill the details just yet, but watch this space. 1–2 October at Te Pae Christchurch.

More room to reach new heights!

Our new 3,265m² Christchurch facility is officially open, bringing aircraft development, manufacturing and Mission Control under one roof.

There’s plenty happening inside already. The Kea Atmos Mk2 is taking shape, and the Canterbury Aerospace Hub is bringing more of the region’s growing aerospace community together.

The opening has attracted plenty of attention across New Zealand media, including 1News, ThreeNews, RNZ, Stuff and Chris Lynch Media.

Carrying payloads to the stratosphere and delivering high-resolution imagery in near real time - that's the capability we've been working toward.

In March, we achieved it.

Working alongside the Deutsches Zentrum fĂĽr Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), with mission control in Christchurch and payload support live from Germany, the Kea Atmos Mk1 captured detailed imagery from 42,000 feet. A genuine milestone for the Kea team, and a fantastic collaboration between New Zealand and German aerospace.
